The Classifieds System was upgraded this afternoon. Most of the benefits are back-end and administration, but a few of the highlights:

It now has it's own RSS. The standard template is running now, but I'll update it soon.
The Classifieds user-features are now closer to what is available on the Member's Photo Album.
Improved Ad Search Features
It's own memberlist, showing associated ads
Improved User Profile page, that is dedicated to just the Classified Ads

As a reminder, a uploaded photo is required for all For Sale Ads. The only exception is Wanted Ads, they normally wouldn't have a photo (unless one wanted to show a desired example).

Background Highlighting has been deactivated for Registered Users. The ability to highlight or italicize text will continue to be allowed. Current Ads with background highlighting will continue as they are until they expire.

User Subscriptions to either Ads or Categories will continue to be allowed, but there has been confusion about this feature. Sometimes they become so numerous that I remove all subscriptions to stop the questions or complaints. It is advised that everyone take a few moments to understand what they are doing in the classifieds.

Although any registered Rat.Net Member can upload Ads, if you have registered here only to upload ads, please be respectful of our community and it's Acceptable Use Policy. The TriumphRat.Net Classifieds are supported here soley as a benefit to the Rat.Net community that contributes here, there is no other priority.

It would also be nice if the classifieds had a column for city/state/country.

It could, but I chose not to display it. US-based users can do a lookup by ZipCode to get a general idea of the mileage/distance from the seller.

If I were doing classifieds as a "pay" service, then I could safely enable a few other features. However, since it's free and considered similar to a forum post (just in a better format) then the privacy rules have the priority.

I have a wtb (want to buy ad) and can't seem to post a photo of the part I am looking for (several models had different versions of the part I am trying to buy).

Is there a way to make a wanted add work with a photo?

At the moment, I don't allow photo uploads on "Wanted" Ads. It is worth reconsidering, but introduces some other issues that I'll have to overcome before the feature is activated.
