Can one of you regulator /site moderator dudes tell me what the hell has happened to the photo compertitions you used to run on this forum? i used to look forward to them, but can't find em any more,have they stopped? or am i not looking in the right place?

I wish I had an answer for you as I too, am keenly interested in photography. There is a Photography thread over in the Biker hang-out section that started in June of 2011. It dosen't appear to be a competition though. There is also the Motorcycle Picture Game thread that is on-going in the same section.

As for responses to your inquiry, I have yet to figure out the magic formula here for getting timely responses; especially from moderators or admin. I have posted some things that seem to get instant replies and others that are apparently invisible to all but myself.

glad to see someone is watching, guess we'll have to wait and see if someone from admin wakes up and rejigs the bike of the month comp.i asked the question on this"site happenings " section of the forum ,thinking it would be the first place moderators would look for questions like this, ahh well .....how wrong was i?

I had the same thought about a thread getting some admin attention when I posted this on October 27. As you can see, however, nary a sole has responded to it. That applies to PMs as well. I'm bettin' that if you put up a picture of a nekkid woman, mods and admins would be coming out of the woodwork though (or out of the circuit boards, as the case may be).

As I understand it, the photo comps were canned due to lack of sponsor support.

I am not sure anyone is going to take any notice of suggestions made by a brand new member who does not even ride a Triumph.

ah, their loss.

However, it would be nice to know at least that someone had considered the suggestion. As it appears no one with any authority even bothered to look. I would be OK with a polite, "not at this time," or maybe "the software can't do that."

edit; another thought I had is, at work when we want to make process improvements, we get get fresh eyes and fresh thoughts on something. We usually end up with better processes.

I was the mod over Bike of the Month and Bike of the Year. When I resigned it went away.

I don't know why/where the Bike of the Month comp went. Will forward this to the other moderators to get an answer.

My hunch is there was no sponsor for the competition this year but may be wrong.

It appears that the sponsor dropped out and as Cat mentioned - he was the moderator running it and he retired from active service so the comps died.

Are you interested in the site starting these comps again? Would it matter if there was no 'prize' other than fleeting fame on the forum? It would involve some effort by the moderators to run (remember they are all volunteers) but if the demand was high enough from the members then I am sure something could be done.
