Doesnt get worse than this
last week I posted how slow this forum is
going from page to page and refreshing is a slow frustrating nightmare. I managed to clean up my office, complete a complex calculation and make a cup of coffee just to reach here
I offered some tips regarding my computer and I carried out a general housekeeping clean up.
but all to no avail.
I know its nothing to do with my computer as I access many forums including some for my profession, without having any adverse issues
only through determination have I got this far
Triumph Rat is unusable, which is a shame, because I ride a Triumph everday. my bike is my main transport
plus my profession, without being too detailed, is all about oil and grease, nuts and bolts and all manner of things mechanical. I am surrounded by very experienced automotive and bike enthusiast and professionals and as such I could contribute and learn a lot. if only I could use this forum amount. I ride every day and have done so for years
maybe the slowness has something to do with time zones. it is afternoon here so I guess it's the middle of the night in Europe or the USA.
for now looks like I will have to give Triumph Rat a miss. will try again in a weeks time and see what it's like.

Please read this thread, it may help you. It's not the site, so I suggest you start looking at your own PC and connection !

Yes that IS a shame but I don`t think it`s the forum, I`m in Australia too and never have any problems, I can even use my Blackberry Storm to browse the site and it works reasonably quickly. I think you will get the best results from Firefox, Opera and similar browsers rather than Internet Explorer.

it would appear this forum doesnt like Internet Explorer and vice a versa. (took about five minutes to get here) and thats the shame.
its not my computer at fault. its replaced every two years. but I am stuck with Internet Explorer as it is a corporate computer (for work) and as such only an administrator can add different browsers etc..
I can access just about any other web site and forum with no worries as thats required for my job. if it involves porn or gambling then access is denied by the corporate filtering tool, other than that I can usually navigate anywhere.
the moderators have suggested firefox is best so I will try a private terminal.
not having a go at Triumph Rat, just stating my problem

Even IE is not slow for me, it's just FF is that much faster.
Corporate servers can be a problem for private access, especially if their admin's aware of frequent social web-site use to a particular site ........
Try accessing outside your work server !
Let us know how you get on.

Here, here.
When I used to work, many sites were blocked. Some were slowed to frustration levels. And some were devoid of images. I suspect much of what you're experiencing is from filtering or firewall software or simply the lack of available bandwidth. My home hookup is faster than work ever was and there are three of us using one wireless router.

use portable firefox from either a directory on the PC or a thumb drive....
http://www.portableapps.com/
doesn't need an installation or even admin rights to run.... just extract and go!
get adblock plus as a plugin, and it'll help with any ads that cause problems.
