Well all right then.
Here's to ya.
although........I actually know a couple of guys who slid down the road in the genuine irvine on their 60's bonnies. They suffered no ills, mainly cos that darn jacket is SOOO thick.
However, it's as you point out - it's made to wear at altitude in an unheated cockpit. Good luck wearing one on a bike in anything over 50°F weather - you'll sweat to death.
Tally Ho and all that!

However, you are right about the armour bit, which is what I wear. As usual though, you, like most other people, have formed a generalization. I see more crotch rocket riders (i'm not lumping you in there by the way) riding in T shirts and shorts than ANY other type of bike. So bloody there.
I ride a Bonneville and a ZX1100, which I suppose is a crotch rocket, and I wear full face, armour all over, gloves, the bleedin' lot.
Why? Because it makes sense. On that point, I do agree with you in a very sincere manner.
But you are quite wrong about the irvine. Manlier men than you gave their lives wearing those garments.
It is friday. I have had many beers and some excellent grilled chicken. I wish you and every other bike rider in the universe well.

I have to agree with Speed3. I'm sure those jackets looked great on pilots back in the day, just as green velour smoking jackets must have looked great one day on someone. They both look a little on the gay now....just sayin'

Well, I don't see how you can label a jacket that was made to go to war in as gay, while the triumph accessory catalogue parades a bunch of pretty boys around in the latest branded jackets...........
But it has been said by many that I have no style. Maybe it's true - I don't care much.
I disagree with you on your assessment of the Irvine, and might just obtain a green velour smoking jacket for the sheer, unadalterated annoyance of it.
Then again, I'm more likely to spend the money on oil and a filter for my bike.
Well, one things for sure, as I muse away here with a sore head, it's great to live in a place where you can actually disagree civilly with someone.
Enough of posting. To the motorcycles!

Take a look at the Vanson Drifter w/ stripes ( www.Vansonleathers.com). Retro look w/ all the Vanson quality. A bit lighter leather than the track suits, so comfortable right away.

I just tried this jacket out, and it was quite possibly the best fitting jacket I have ever worn. it is a combo leather/textile. good ventilation and not heavy.
comes in all black as well

I have this jacket (Revit Ignition) and, having tried many jackets, bought it because it fit me the best. I have not yet tested its 3-weather usefulness, or its waterproof liner, but all-in-all it seems like it will offer me the best comfort and protection. I have the all black version so I am going to assume it's going t get hot in the summer. That's why I bought this one too (Revit Strada):

Stick with First Gear. Their Scout IV leather jacket is awesome. I bought one this year and I am extremely pleased with it.
- It has a removable full lining for cold weather.
- It has large zip open vents in the front and rear, plus sleeve vents. Ventilation is excellent. I've worn it comfortably in 82 degree temps (warmest we have had so far this year).
- It has two large cargo style pockets in the chest area. They are designed so that they don't detract from the clean look of the jacket. It has two smaller side pockets and an internal pocket.
- It has CE approved body armor at the shoulders and elbows, plus a foam back protector pad (that can be upgraded).
- It has two front zipper positions so that you can expand the jacket when layering a sweater or electric vest beneath it.
- The leather quality is excellent. It is rather heavy, but it just feels substantial in a comforting way.
I bought mine from NewEnough.com. I did have to exchange the first one I ordered for a size larger. I still wear my size XL First Gear Magnum textile jacket, and my size XLT First Gear mesh jacket. But I had to get a size XXXLT in the Scout IV! Once I got the proper size, the fit of the jacket is very good.
