although........I actually know a couple of guys who slid down the road in the genuine irvine on their 60's bonnies. They suffered no ills, mainly cos that darn jacket is SOOO thick.

However, it's as you point out - it's made to wear at altitude in an unheated cockpit. Good luck wearing one on a bike in anything over 50°F weather - you'll sweat to death.

I have to agree with Speed3. I'm sure those jackets looked great on pilots back in the day, just as green velour smoking jackets must have looked great one day on someone. They both look a little on the gay now....just sayin'

Well, I don't see how you can label a jacket that was made to go to war in as gay, while the triumph accessory catalogue parades a bunch of pretty boys around in the latest branded jackets...........

But it has been said by many that I have no style. Maybe it's true - I don't care much.

I disagree with you on your assessment of the Irvine, and might just obtain a green velour smoking jacket for the sheer, unadalterated annoyance of it.

Then again, I'm more likely to spend the money on oil and a filter for my bike.

Well, one things for sure, as I muse away here with a sore head, it's great to live in a place where you can actually disagree civilly with someone.

Take a look at the Vanson Drifter w/ stripes (www.Vansonleathers.com). Retro look w/ all the Vanson quality. A bit lighter leather than the track suits, so comfortable right away.

I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

I just tried this jacket out, and it was quite possibly the best fitting jacket I have ever worn. it is a combo leather/textile. good ventilation and not heavy.
