A bunch of friends from my work (and I) are taking our own jeans to the tailors to have Dupont 1050 ballistic nylon (which I ordered and received at $11 (usd) per yard) sewn into the knees and seat of our own jeans. We're actually thinking about starting up our own product line (Tired of overpriced "protective jeans"). Will keep you posted on this. Many of us will be trying the 1050 INSIDE our jean's knees with KNOX "flexiform" armor sandwiched inbetween with a velcro closure at top (so as to allow removal and reinstallation into other jeans...that way you can have MANY reinforced jeans and simply move the SAME pair of thin, flexible armor from jean to jean). I'm focusing on Levi's 501 button fly (also having the single stiched outer leg seam doubled up) while my co-workers will be trying others. My co-workers and I are all aware that "loose fit" jeans are garbage as far as protection (armor moves) and are sick of seeing them sold. We're trying to find a way to provide mass amounts of "protective" jeans that FIT individuals. Dupont 1050 Ballistic nylon is NOT breathable so I'm not sure how the "seat" area will do, but will keep you posted.
