I was thinking about these:

But again I don't want to look like I belong in the village people

There are some great new options for someone looking for leathers (with CE knee protection) that don't want to look, um, ...village people-ish. :-) For leather there are the ICON (www.rideicon.com) Automag leather pants and HG Router II pants (see previous posts). Both are under $220 USD. Also there are two great summer pants as well. For these there is the HG "Mesh Tex" pants (again...see previous post for link) and Scorpion's motoX styled "Deuce" pants.. http://shopping.scorpionusa.com/C55D...26D31DCABDD2AC
All four of these pants are rugged looking and will not confuse you with a "village people" wannabe! Plus they all have CE armor in the knees as well.

Hey Ken,

Thanks for the information! I like the Icons.

All things considered, it's better to have the Mad Max look then the YMCA look.

That's why I've always stayed away from chaps

I, too, love the Icons. www.terrapowersports.com has them for $220 usd. I'm a skinny fella and have to wait til they come out with a size smaller than they make.

Anyone tried the Spidi Teker?

Nice looking but $419.99 is a bit on the spendy side to say the least.

WAAAAYYYYYY to much $ for my wallet! Plus the inseam is WAY too short for us (kinda) tall fellas. Spidi make great gear...but like Vanson...you PAY for it too.

Yeah, that's some serious $$$ for a pair of pants. Now, as far as the inseam is concerned, that's just what the doctor ordered. I'm 5'8" with 29-30" inseam. I'm half Italian so maybe they make em' for ppl like me...

I really want to know more about the Havoc pants. That seems like the right price, not to over the top looking and good protection. Problem is, I can't find anyone local who has them. Guess I'll just have to order them online and see if they work.

Shift Havoc Pants:

I, too, like the idea of the "Havoc" pants. However since they are half leather they must be dry cleaned. I figure if I have to dry clean them...may as well have FULL leather (vented). I DO use a leather jacket but that seems to get dirtied up far less than my pants do. I like textile for pants...just throw them in the washer. I'd get a textile jacket too if I could find one that had any advantage over my fully perforated leather ICON pursuit jacket (flows air like MAD!).

Hey Ken,

I like how the ICON pursuit jacket looks and I could use a summer jacket. Thanks for the tip.

Now If I could just get this pants thing sorted out. It's rally too bad that the clothing manufacturers are missing out on anyone who isn't "average" (whatever that is). If you're short like me, tough, too tall, too bad.

Yeah...jackets are plentiful but pants are not. It's a shame manufacturers don't offer more selections and styles. It's all supply and demand, though. Not enough people CARE about protecting their legs to prompt manufacturers to make more options. I'm no "Saint" as I've ridden with jeans before (they are comfortable AND look cool), however at least I wear "strap on armor" under them (Knox knee armor). But protective pants that protect AND are practical (washable) AND cool looking (In the eye of the beholder) is a MUCH tougher choice!
