how do these look for overpants

I've been just riding with jeans + leather jacket with shoulder and elbow protection for communting to work. have been thinking about overpants but have been lazy. Anyways, it's been getting cold so perfect time to get those over pants.

how do the featues look on these icon arc textile pants:

(don't worry, not getting the red one's...lol).

That's a good price for overpants, but they don't mention armor. IMHO, that's as important as the pants themselves - overpants give you abrasion protection, but armor gives you impact protection.

Even though a loose or relaxed fit looks cooler (and is what I buy in jeans), for on the bike that can mean flapping around in the wind and being annoying...

well, it actually mentions there is adjustable/removable knee armor.

how do these look? i tried that on in a store and they seem good. didn't have my size though so i'll need to order from somewhere else.

these seem like to offer better protection with a bit more padding.

can't really get something that's too fitted. otherwise my jeans would not fit under there,

knee protection on the overpants i'm looking at seems so-so i bought these to go underneath the pants/over the jeans instead.

I had a set of the alter ego pants, but they weren't long enough for me. I really like the design and quality was great.

IIRC a few people have posted that they liked the Astars Cargo pants.

Maybe it's because I wear my (regular) pants/jeans pretty baggy, but I've never been able to get comfortable wearing them under riding pants. I'll do it for the short commute to work, but if I'm taking the long way home I generally change out of them. The combination of regular pants + overpants (and maybe the liner) is really bulky, and uncomfortable on my Speed Four.

On the other hand I never had any trouble riding my old '78 Yamaha XS650, with a more upright riding position.

I've experimented extensively with different options for knee protection, and the best I've come up with is the Knox knee armor sold by Draggin' Jeans. It has Velcro(tm) on it, and I got a few strips of iron on Velcro and put them in all the different pants I wear. The armor that came with everything else I have didn't offer enough coverage for my preference, and the Knox Cross armor (similar to the Icon Field Armor) got uncomfortable because it would bunch up the jeans I was wearing underneath...

alter ego comments:

great construction, good fit, great wind protection even with the liner removed. knee/shin pads are a little weak. they are definitely short. i am sending them back for the long version.
