Why not just use saddle soap? It conditions the leather, gets it clean and it's real cheap.

I've used saddle soap a couple of times on my perforated leather jacket. The only problem I have with it is that it takes me well over an hour to do the whole jacket. I'm lazy, so I've been putting off another application of it, which the jacket needs badly...

For a quick wipe down, I use Black Magic Leather Wipes.
Even if they didn't work, I'd still use them 'cause they smell sooooo good.

I use whatever generic leather oil I can find in the local shops. I love the smell of it, and re-use the same piece of towel to apply it everytime.

The thing to avoid when cleaning is any thing alkaline, this takes the oil out of the leather,and kills it dead, Sorry but saddle soap is only good for dark leather, if your gear has light colors in it they will darken, and get splotchy. There are a lot of good ones out there, neatsfoot oil is also great but not on light bright colored leather, it will darken it. Atom wax is very very good, you get this from Febing's at leather shops. ( this is a final finish)

just remember NO ALKALINE cleaners read the label, there should be no ammonia compounds in it!(you would be surprised at how many leather cleaners have ammonia in them)

I second that. The Langlitz conditioner is best I have used.
Just wipe bugs off with damps cloth and then apply the Langlitz conditioner. Jacket will wear well for many, many years.

My uncle's jacket is 30+ yrs old and the Langlitz treatment has worked great. It is all I use on my leathers.
