I don't have any, I would just get leather pants. I prefer jeans and thermal underwear.

chaps

I think BlueJ and BonnieLass need to weigh in on this subject. BonnieLass looks great in her white chaps, and I don't think she is gay (but you never know). ;-)

What are these 'Chaps'?, I dont think we have them here in the UK. Chaps here is a slang word for men [Guys, Dudes, Chaps, Fellas etc]

You Brits must have a different name for these leather overpants that have no crotch and no armor. They are big among the Harley crowd (and pop singers, apparently).

When worn by a guy, some people think they look sort of . . . gay?

And although not very functional, they can be a little . . . naughty?

Totally agree that from a purely ATGATT point of view you should get real cycling pants, but while chaps leave your posterior unguarded, it can't hurt to add a layer of leather over most of your lower half if your other option was to wear jeans alone...

Such a serious and sensible post . . . and I was trying to bait you guys for something more playful. Oh well.

Seems a lot of folks here are a bit conflicted about their masculinity.

Spend a couple of days on horseback chasin' cattle out of the brush without chaps and you won't be callin' anybody "gay".

Chaps are one of the oldest forms of protective wear and are quite funcitonal. Although I prefer my `stitch, chaps do have some advantages in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. in July and August.

No offense intended Panter. I think those who think of them as gay are just having flashbacks to the Village People.
