I'll add a few thoughts on my Vanson.

I am glad I did not get the Cobra (or any other perforated leather) jacket. I have ridden my Sport Rider Jacket (too lazy to look up exact model) in some opressive dry heat. The venting in the Jacket works just fine.

GP armor sucks for daily wear. In the elbow/forearm it's fine. Shoulder armor is uncomfortable. I had to cut up the back armor to make it work for me. One would be fine with all CE armor.

If I ever find myself near the factory I would absolutely get some kind of custom fit thing.

Newenough.com has some insane prices on some Vanson jackets right now.
Closeouts in limited sizes, but if you find one in your size, there are some steals.
They have a couple of different perforated models, a couple under $300 (I think I paid close to $600 for mine!) which is just stupid for these jackets.
I wear a perforated all Summer long here in Virginia, and as long as you are moving, it almost feels like you are riding in a t-shirt, it allows that much air through.
If you have ever wanted one, and they have your size available, this might just be too good to pass up.

Good for you oldman, well worth the wait, no? I will say I really like the ventmax 3 but even with the pads, it does not feel nearly as safe as the perforated leather Vanson I have with no pads. Better than nothing when it's over 95 degrees out. Cheers!

After a week of riding with the Vanson, it was worth the wait and weight. Light as a feather compared to my vented jacket from Triumph. Like riding in a tee shirt but with protection Did a group ride of over 100 miles this weekend and never knew I was wearing it.

I have 2 Vanson Jackets and the Traveller pants. I disagree about CE armor being all you need. I have the GP armor in the shoulder, elbows and knees, and I've gotten used to it. I think CE armor is basically worthless in a crash.

Recently I tested the armor in my Jacket. The GP armor in the elbow/forearm was perfect. The CE stuff did fine in the shoulders although I wouldn't say I took a big hit in the shoulders.

I just never could get comfortable with the GP armor in the shoulders. While I would prefer the GP in the shoulder, It was a compromise for me.

I have a Vanson Photon - the glow in the dark model. While I question my own wisdom in getting a white jacket, well, black and white, it is heirloom quality stuff. Terrific protection and it still glows!

Also, I have been told the black/white combination stands out in traffic even during daylight hours.

Yeah, Vanson rocks!
