Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0

Does anybody have any experience with the Ballistic 5.0 pants? I am looking for some overpant type deal where I can have waterpoof and alittle protection. But in this neck of the woods, still pretty cold at times. I was looking at the comments on newenough and it seemed like what I was looking for... any opinions?

"casual and comfortable" cannot be used in same sentence as "protective". The reason racers wear hot uncomfortable armored leather is that it is TIGHT and the armor will not move under impact nor will the leather fold and crease (causing a tear...not good). Loose clothing cannot hold armor against the skin where it belongs unless you use "stand alone" amor (strap on). Even that is not as secure as in tight pants. I ues KNOX (strap on) knee armor with O'NEAL Comp shorts (padded) under loose jeans. It's an extreme compromise at best. If I fall the armor will move, jeans will tear, and I'll be messed up. But better than none at all. DON'T use "armored jeans"! This armor is useless as it will easily bump aside and you'll be banging your kneecaps along the pavement. Wanna test your set-up? Run on the road and drop to your knees while turning sideways. See how well your armor stays in place. Now picture that doing 50 miles and hour! IF your are not going to wear "racing pants (tight)" than AT LEAST strap some knee armor on (this will still move...but less than loose garment armor) and prey for the best!
