riding pants
The BMW Summer and Summer 2 series are excellent. Comfortable, cool, functional, and look good. The Summer pants have BMW pads, and the Summer 2 pants come with CE knee and hip pads. I ride daily in Houston so comort and cooliness are cirtical. The raptor pants are good, also have a pair, but heavy to wear.
Dragging jeans offer NO protection and should a fall happen the kevlar isn't worth much.
There is a website that shows a BMR rider that went down with an Arai Helmet and dragging jeants. The jeans look like a dye grinder had hit them so did his skin. Ouch.

For what it's worth I own a pair of Hood jeans.(UK Manufactured) I am very pleased with them, they fit well, have Knox armour that is well fitted and not uncomfortable to wear on or off the bike.
I bought them for the occasions where I am going somewhere fairly near to home and not wanting to walk about or sit in leathers.
The guys at Hood are very helpful and can adjust jeans to fit and did so for me by fitting the button hole and turning up the legs so that fit perfectly.
My only reservation with wearing them is that they do not attach to my jackets, in the event of an off the jacket could / would ride up exposing bare back. (shudder!!)

What no protection at all, worse than a pair of shorts? worse than a pair of normal jeans?
I live where the spring time temperature is 35c and summer gets as high as 45c so wearing leather pants is not going to happen for me. I have ridden motorbikes for 30 years in jeans and think that I should upgrade so I was looking at Dragging jeans. Any one here actually 'road' tested them?

Haven't tried those, but I just ordered these pants, and they appear similar, and are a lot cheaper:

Not as hardy as leather, but better than denim... I'll give a review when I get 'em!
Its hard to find women's stuff, but its getting a little better... and i've leaned to NOT ride in the current 'low-cut' style of regular women's jeans... I hate the look of a high rise pant, but this is what happens what a hip meets pavement:

My jacket has a loop on the inside, in the back, that I can slide a belt through with whatever pant I'm wearing... you could always sew, or have something sewn, in like that... not as good as a zipper but better than nothing!

I'm trying out a pair of Cardura 500 denier riding pants... haven't gotten them yet, but given the way they do the lining, and the breathability of the pant vs. cotton, I'm betting they might be even cooler... and more protection! I'm going to use these when its over 95, otherwise, will be wearing leathers.

That Moto Liberty site has a LOT of stuff. Thanks for pointing it out. But, I couldn't use the link you provided to locate the product.
(P.S. I hope all has healed well! I spent my three days in the hospital a couple of years ago after a short ride on a hot summer day without my gear. Never again for me, even if it is 95 degrees.)

Ooops, let me try again... http://http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=39141
Thanks... All is coming along, its been a long road... the skin graphs have finally all taken, and the collar bone surgery is done... I was wearing a summer Joe Rocket jacket (WORTHLESS) and jeans with tennis shoes (just STUPID), with helmet and gloves (those were ok!) and it was a high-speed get off... but the right gear, while not prevented everything, sure could have prevented some of it!!

Dainese Drake and drake AIR
The Air version has a nice flap and knee vents to let in air. Once closed it seals well from cold.
The regular drake has no knee vent but just the flap.
They are both good. Excellent pants. light weight and strong. Excellent protection.
and
BMW InoTex 2 Denim Pants. Extremely well made and extremely expensive.
but looks and feels like reals jeans and built like armor. Comes with knee and shin protection, hip and thigh available as option.
I like Draggin jeans but after the the other two I mentioned it seems a bit light on protection. Although I should mention I did a low speed low side fall and the jeans did hold up.
Last and not the least but the first choice is leather.
Dainese Mekong vented perf is great really keeps you cool but well protected.
In the winter I like the Dainese 215 or the Stockholm
Both at good prices from

"l2fly" and other ladies,
You might want to check this out...
http://www.webbikeworld.com/women-mo...pion-fem-tech/
JCMoTo,
Good info. Those Dainese Drake Air pants look promising. It's hard to buy pants without trying them on first, though.
Draggin' Jeans are marginally okay, but I find them to be a bit "scratchy" and still too hot when it's over 90 degrees...which is the real test. Cortech DSX jeans seems like a good alternative in the "jeans category."
