It may only be March but here in northern Mexifornia it's already in the high 70s.
So I'm looking for a summer jacket. My leather jacket will be much too hot even with the liner removed.
I'd prefer a textile jacket with armor(or armour). Something that breathes. And not to flashy. I'm not enamoured of clothing plastered with logos.Any ideas?

I have a couple of Olympia jackets for myself and gf, black with some colored accents. Understated and low-key; I don't provide free advertising. They come with armor and removable liners. I found them at the local mega-BMW dealer (Bob's BMW). They cost around $150-$200.

BTW, the gf jacket is specifically a female jacket and shaped to fit women better than a men's jacket.

To be honest and politically incorrect, when it gets hot I don't wear a jacket. When it gets disgustingly hot, I use a car with a/c.

I have a Vanson mesh jacket with armor (removable) and its awesome. I wore it on 100+ days here last summer and its seems to actually cool your arms when you're moving. AC effect from perspiration in the lining or something I'd guess - also has a cool retro look. It's a great jacket.

If mesh is okay, then I have an Alpinstar that has a removable waterproof inner liner. It works great for that unexpected rainstorm, or windbreak for those cooler moments.

Here is my post for the Hot weather jacket topic:

Although I've had issues with the company (i.e read 'the owner' as he is the company), I'd highly recommend Motoports Kevlar Air Mesh Jacket. It is taylored made for you so it is pricier than of the shelf stuff but for hot and humid climates it's probably the best jacket out there because:

1. It's made out of a Kevlar blended fiber which exceedes the tear and abrasion strength of Cordura Nylon and cheaper perforated leather.
2. Even with a black version, it doesn't transmit heat from the sun like most black materials do because it's Kevlar (Glass workers use kevlar gloves when blowing and working with molten glass).
3. The air mesh feels like your not even wearing a jacket when at speed
4. You can get waterproof gortex liners that zip into the jacket
5. It's tailored for your measurements

My only issues with it is the company that makes it - read: Long long long wait times, awful customer service if things go wrong.
Also they claim a lot about the kevlar blend materials they use (made by dupont) but they don't point to any 'outside' tests/info on their claims although they do have a lot of feedback in which to back up their claims.

Just got a Triumph Integra...very pleased with it. The removable rain cover is a big plus. Lots of ventilation...we'll see when it gets in the 90's.

I have a Joe Rocket Alter Ego, I really like it it has zip off panels to leave a mesh jacket, and a zip out rain liner. It is now my all season jacket. When it gets cold and rainy I have a warmandsafe.com heated jacket and love it to death. I rode in 3 degree Celsius weather and was quite comfortable.

If you are really hot you can put a Sahara vest under the mesh it is designed to evap water to keep you cool.

I also have the Triumph Integra Jacket. Like it very much. The carry along rain jacket in the back pouch is very handy. Just wish they would have a thermal liner for cold weather riding. The rain jacket works as a insulator but on windy days and at highway speeds tends to act like a sail. :hammer:
