Hey guys, I can tell you how mesh holds up in a crash. I have an Alpinestars T-Stunt Airflo/Mesh jacket. I went down at about 40mph and slid across two lanes and into a curb. I landed hard on my right elbow/forearm and luckily the armor in the jacket goes around the elbow and down the arm a bit. I did wear a hole through the mesh on my arm, but the hard CE armor held up fine, I didn't even have a bruise on that arm. There are a few spots on my chest and shoulder that are worn, but not all the way through also.

Basically, I think the mesh itself, did ok, but not well. Although with the additional armor, I'm impressed. I recommend a mesh jacket for average riding (65mph) when it's really hot. It kept me much cooler than my perf. leather jacket. JUST MAKE SURE IT HAS GOOD ARMOR in the critical areas or you'll be hurting probably if you go down.

Hope this helps.

Summertime in Washington DC...sitting in traffic?

The Rev'It Airforce jacket has been worth every penny.

Here's a great review:

Check out the Vanson Vent Max 3

1000 denier. Full armor, all mesh $139.00

Vanson

Saw one at my dealer the other week. Really nice jacket and can't image more possible air flow. If you wear a short sleeve shirt underneath better put on sunscreen or you may burn.

Downside. No liners so you need to have a rainjacket available. But guess in AZ thats not a major problem.

I have to agree with DAVEM. The Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket is great. I own one. The mesh allows free flow of air. You can add a rain liner if desired. The only drawback is no armor/padding in front. I ride during the spring/summer months in temps 95-105 degrees Fahrenheit with heavy humidity and I am comfortable. Good luck with your search. :hammer:

I've got an Olympia textile jacket. In traffic it's a bit warm, but once you're moving its perfect. With the liner in its also pretty warm even in cold weather and for the most part waterproof

I've ordered the GX Air. Cant wait to try it. Unfortunately I ordered from Ridegear.com and they take forever to ship stuff out. I waited over 5 days and there was no shipment notification so I called them and they were waiting on my gloves. But they never bothered to mention they were backordered until I called them. I should have gone with Newenough.com, they sent my helmet out super quick and the stuff they have listed is actually in stock.

Newenough is great, I always look there first. I'm going to order that jacket too (GX Air). Wish the Tall was available in more colors, but at least black doesn't need to be cleaned as much.

I have a Joe Rocket mesh and leather in yellow and black. The black part feels hot. Stick with a light color jacket and you will be cooler in the heat with the sun out. The best color is white for keeping cool. If you get a all mesh jacket you can put it in the washing machine. That what I do with my white Tour Master mesh jacket. But then I wear a white helmet to keep cool too. For really hot weather I wear a cool vest under the mesh jacket.
