Triumph Lawford Jacket
I picked the Lawford jacket up from my local Triumph dealer yesterday. It's my first motorcycle jacket (only been riding for a year).
My first impression was that the leather seemed a bit thin, particularly in the back panel where there's only one layer of leather lined with mesh. I believe the Triumph site lists the leather thickness as 1mm. However, the majority of the jacket (front panels, sleeves, collar) seem to have two layers of leather. I think some would argue that 1mm is too thin for a MC jacket, but the jacket does come with elbow & shoulder pads, which are quite comfortable when installed, and has a pocket in the back for an optional spine protector.
I think this jacket falls more in the "fashion" end of the leather MC jacket spectrum. If you were to lay your bike down in this jacket, I suspect the leather will probably be wrecked. The leather is actually a golden color with an oiled "antique" finish. If you took a digger, you'd probably wear the finish off.
If you are interested in the jacked, I would talk to your local dealer and see if they would be willing to order one for you so that you can check it out (with the option of sending it back in the event that you don't like it). When I told the sales manager at my local dealership that I was interested in the jacket, he was more than happy to order one in and send it back if I didn't like it.
Overall, I'd rate this a 5 out of 5 for style, but probably only a 3 or 4 for function simply because of the thickness of the leather and the probability of it looking "ruined" if it were ever to be in a wreck.
I don't have any pictures to post yet, but I'll try to get some posted tonight.
Hope this helps.
