Rain gear recommendations

Hi everyone, fall and winter are on their way and here in Victoria, BC that means rain.I don't plan on riding in all conditions but would like to have options if I get caught out in the wet.

What raingear do you have? Do you like it?

Thanks!
David

belstaff is hard to beat. but expensive.

the one i have was my dads from the early 70s. so i dont know if todays are made as good now as in the past. but if they are then they would actually be worth the extra price if they last almost 40yrs lol.

Thumbs up STUCK in the Rain

Thereare these things called "Poncho in a Pouch" that fold up & fit in your pocket. No warmth there BUT will keep you dry ifyou get "stuck"! $1.00 here & ya throw them away if you want when home. They are pretty roomy & will fit over bulky warm gear. Long enuff to tuck down over your knees as well. Cheap boat foul weather gear will work as well but ya still gotta store it ! Good cheap "oh no" equipt atking NO space!

After 30 yrs. of wearing cheap raingear I went out and bought a Triumph 1 piece rainsuit. It wasn't cheap but well worth it, not only for rain but it's warm too.

Smile rain gear

I have been using a TourMaster PVC 2pc rain suit for the past 3 years. The first time was in a torrential down pour that soaked my boots but my top and bottom stayed bone dry. I am incrediably cheap but keep track of what works and what doesn't. This has been great for me as it fits over my regular ridinig gear and does not flap in the wind. I have seen the ponchos acting as sails for some and it has to be a pain to ride in.

Ride Safe!

When I took the MSF course a year ago last February, we had some crazy weather. Both riding days were in the 40s Fahrenheit, and we had more than 2 inches of rain both days. We rode through all of the weather including torrential downpours and 40 mph winds, only getting off of the course during a brief spell of lightning.

I had checked the forecast first and picked up a set of Frog Toggs. They are made of a very lightweight polypropylene material and fit over whatever you are wearing. Although after 8 hours of pelting rain, some of the rain managed to get through somehow (perhaps it soaked through the taped seams or came in through the pocket slits), but I was still very happy that I bought them. Everyone else was soaked to the bone and shivering all day.

As I said, they are very light, and they also pack down very well. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

If I may...I was in a similar predicament once. I found myself riding in the weather quite a bit. I would show up to work soaked to the bone and miserable. I tried some Nelson Rigg rain gear and I have not regretted it at all. I have the same set I bought 3 years ago and it is holding up fine. It may work for you.
