Rivton jacket faded

Hi everyone,

I bought a Rivton jacket last year and after only one summer the black leather is not black anymore. It's like the black tint faded under the sun and turned grey. I submitted the problem to my Triumph dealer and they told me that all Rivton jackets had the same problem (and also another model...the one with the blue sleeves that turned grey). They didn't say anything about Triumph doing something for that problem. I'd like to know if anyone had the same problem and had the black leather dyed again. Otherwise, the jacket has kind of a nice vintage look, but that's not what I expected when I bought it... My wife has a Harley jacket, and after four seasons riding under the sun, the black tint of the leather is still very dark !!!

Man, that's messed up. I was under the impression that the Triumph jackets were of higher quality. I guess they are all made in different places. I hope you get it all sorted out.

hi there. Not about the Rivton but the Portland and they are similar if I am not mistaken. I bought the jacket off ebay and loved it but it was just too big...so I found a smaller one in a triumph dealers I could try on. Fitted perfect...bought it and came home to send the other one back. When I put the jackets together it was like they had come from two different manufacturers. The first one had a nice matt finish and a kind of grain effect...the new one was a bit shiny, creased and basically looked like it should be worth half the money. I took it back to the shop and they agreed that the leather being used must have changed at some point...luckily they had another one in my size...in the finish I like..so I am a happy chappy. Not sure if that helps but compare yours to some other Rivtons, it looks like there was some quality issues at some point to me...and am sure Triumph are aware.
