Light weight summer jackets
I'm looking for a light weight summer jacket that will obviously offer me protection while riding the bike, but be cool with it, maybe even light weight tops with armour.
I know a lot of you guys ride in hot weather in the States, what sort of stuff do you use.
I'm taking the bike to France for 8 weeks in the summer and can't stand the thought of being too restricted in my kit, it will really put me off my riding.
So recommendations would be appreciated, I don't mind if I have to order from the States either.
Look forward to some replies.

I bought a Hein Gericke Devon jacket last year specially for a trip to Spain and France. Lovely jacket, warm in winter with the lining in, cool in summer without lining.

When it's really hot outside during summer months (90-110 F) I ride with a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket. It's mesh and has an inside rain liner. I also have a Firstgear Kilimanjaro jacket that covers me during the other months. The Kilimanjaro has plenty of vents but it is heavier and sometimes the vents don't open as wide as I'd like. Just my 2 cents.

I just got the Balfour. It looks and feels great, well made. I got it for summer so the 500 weight textile seemed better than the 1000 weight of the Newham. There are also torso and sleeve vents that zipper. I am a US suit/blazer size 46 Long and I got the US sized 52; it just fits, snug on arms. Definitely cannot get a bulky hoodie under but there is a zip out lining included.
I got it from Detroit Triumph for $129 plus $12 shipping. Arrived quickly and in perfect shape. Everyone else is $199 plus more for shipping. Thanks Detroit Triumph-

I have a lot of different jackets and they are all hot in hot weather. With that said, I have a Dainese hybrid jacket (Ducati branded) that is comfortable in most weather even without vents, because it has no waterproof internal liner. My Teknic mesh jacket gets the nod on most really hot days, but the Dainese is a close second.
I also like my Teknic Freestyle jackets (I have two), which are my most frequent all-around choice. I'm thinking about buying another Freestyle (NewEnough has them on closeout for $50) and removing its lining. I'm hoping that would make it as cool as the Dainese, which would result in the perfect jacket (for me at least). Of course, if you expect to ride in the rain, that mod wouldn't be so good.

Fantastic clearance going on with these.
http://www.newenough.com/street/clos...le_jacket.html
Full mesh with armor and wind liner (waterproof) that can be put in if need be. Without the liner air will flow right through it if you are moving at all. I find it cooler with the jacket on since the sun isn't beating down on my skin.
Has a little more feminine fit than a lot of mc jackets.
New Enough is a great service so no worries buying from them.
I like the jacket enough that I own 2 in different colors.
Also, if you are going to be somewhere that is very sunny avoid black, you will stay cooler in a light color.

I was up at Moto Liberty last week end looking around. The Vanson Vent Max jacket caught my eye. It was a Cordura mesh jacket with armor that you could hold up to the light and literally see thru. I thought it would be cool on hot days no doubt but a protection joke. But one of the ladies who owns the store told me the jacket is very popular in these parts and the 1000 denier Cordura does provide protection. I may investigate this jacket further.

I got a Triumph Raptor II for Christmas. It's mostly mesh with a removable liner. With the liner out, it's very comfortable in the heat, as long as you're moving, of course.
