Check six

When stopped at a traffic light, or stop sign, I pull the front brake so as to pulse the brake light. More than once, I have seen inattentive drivers notice and alter their stopping.

Getting shunted waiting at lights is always a possibility. I try to keep as far left or as far right as the lane, depending in which lane I'm in as I can. i.e. nearest the kerbs.

Hopefully that way inattentive drivers will miss me or hit the car in front of me if I'm behind other traffic.

My eldest son was once shunted into the middle of an intersection whilst waiting at lights by a lady who 'didn't see him'. He was wearing ATGATT and had his lights on, fortunately he was OK but wrecked his bike.

+1bazillion. Always keep my eyes on the rearview, when a cage approach I pulse the brake light. When car has stopped I'll stop and then can focus on whats going on with the traffic light.

MAJ Kong,

I pulse the brake as well and keep the bike in gear just in case I have to scoot quickly. I just hope the cage in back of the one behind me stops too.

I also pulse the brake lever to flash the lamp...at least until that cager behind me stops. I also try to off-set myself in the lane, either right or left, depending on amount of space beside the car in front in the event I need an escape. So far everyone hasn't even come close to hitting me, but I keep watching.

I pulse the brake light also and make sure I'm offset to one side. I also pay attention to the rear view mirror but I don't stop when the cage behind me stops. I also look for the one behind that one. It payed off big on day. I ended up seeing a car not slowing. I dumped the clutch and squeezed between the cars infront of me in time to miss the wreck. The cage hit the cage that was behind me and pushed it into the cage that was in front of me before I moved. Would have been ugly. Lady was real surprised to see a guy on a bike unzip his coat to show a police uniform. Priceless.
