Cycle Barn RATS to Lolo Pass in June
We now have almost 30 people with Best Western reservations in Clarkston, Washington for Friday and Saturday night June 20th and 21st! Again, our (loose) plan is Seattle to Clarkston Friday, up to the top of Lolo Pass for lunch Saturday (forgot the name of the lodge) - and hope to meet up with the Montana and Idaho RATS there, and back. Home on Sunday. We have groups leaving several days early, groups making this the start of a longer trip - it is our typical disorganized organization. If you are interested (all bikes welcome) send me a note at fanatic@cyclebarn.com

Ride safe, ride fast, and ride Triumphantly!

Latest count: 40 plus! Pretty soon we are going to have to see if we can rent the fairgrounds, start looking for sponsors, see if we can get the factory demo truck in...

****, there any fuel on this section between Kooskia and Lolo? Not sure my TBS can make it 143mi in the mountains on one tank. . . I've never run it dry on reserve. . . :0

I don't remeber where it is, but there is a gas stop along the way - a small station by the left side of the road. Takes a while with a lot of bikes, but that's OK. It is about 100 yards before the "winding road next 77 miles" sign where everyone takes a picture anyway. If you turn around at the top to come back you should not have a problem. Or, some will keep going further into Montana before returning. Nobody had a problem last year. I am sure others in the area will chime in on what town that gas station is outside - I don't recall!

Near the top of the pass is the Lochsa Lodge. Great place for a meal. There's also a gas pump there and a small store with snack foods & cold pop & beer.

If you've got a fly rod, the Lochsa river is a great one for native cutthroat trout too! Have fun, that's a great road. Towards dusk, use caution, there's a mess of whitetail deer in the area and they seem to like to browse the fresh growth on the edges of the road...

Thank you so much. Lochsa Lodge is where we meet the RATs from Montana, and I could not remember the name. I also thought they had a gas pump there, but I was certainly not going to post it without being sure.

Sunday evening, 6pm, finally roll into the garage after 1200 miles in 3 days. The dog is going ape-$#!+, the wife comes out to greet me but all she can say is "What the #$!! is that smell?"
"Oh that" I say, "That's the trout in my tank bag!"

You can gas up at Lowell and top off at Lochsa Lodge for the return trip if you're concerned.
