Bonneville Rally Maggie Valley NC

Lets ride them Bonnevilles!! There is a Bonneville Rally in Maggie Valley NC the 1st weekend in May 2008. So far we have 32 Bonneville/Thruxton riders signed up and a few rooms left here http://www.tanglewoodmotelandcabins.com/ .

We will have the entire complex to ourselves it seems and anyone interested can PM or email SCbonneville (Tom) to let him know your are coming. (He's the official head count guy and keeping track of rooming at the Tanglewood Resort). The Wheels Through Time Museum located in town for those interested. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com (Yea their mostly American V twins - but their old and cool with lots of old racers.) Plus the owner will take us back into the restoration shop and fire off a few bikes for us!

These roads are some of the best riding in the country and for those interested Deals Gap is close by, but VERY heavily patrolled on the TN side(will be this Spring as they have more grant money for the job). So lets get them Bonnies ready to roll! The agendas pretty loose with some arriving early to mid week and others on Fri or Thur night. There will be a ride to a nearby eatery for the group on Sat, and a guided tour through the museum with the owner (TBD or on a rainy day should that happen). Other riding is kinda informal with groups of people getting together to go here or there. This is the Sixth Annual Deals Gap Rally (now Maggie Valley thanks to TN Highway Patrol).

Here we are with the BA forum guys a few years back who where in N GA the same weekend, so we all meet for BBQ. Almost 50 of us in this pic.

An update and addition to John's post. Anyone who is interested in joining in, and I'll tell you that it will be one of the best times you'll have on two wheels, needs to contact me (via pm or through forum e-mail) for room info/assignments/co-ordination.

The Tanglewood will not let you book direct for our dates. You need to contact me first and I will make the assignment and pass it on to our hosts. This "system" was put in place so that we can maximize occupancy and keep a handle on room availability.

We have four rooms (8 beds) still available at "rally central" and there is an adjacent motel that we will use for overflow if necessary.

If you have not ridden in the Maggie Valley area before, I will tell you that there is a "plethora" of OUTSTANDING roads available.

I know it is early in the year and a lot of folks aren't thinking about riding right now. It is only three months until the gathering and we've just about filled up the motel with past participants... Don't be left out... drop me a line and join in!

Yes, we don't discriminate.... Bonnies and Thruxtons are the featured bikes...Not the required ones...

PM or e-mail me if you'd like more info...

Hey Eric, thanks for the offer... There are a number of us that are familiar with the area. I've ridden up there quite a bit and another friend lives in Hendersonville... The 276/215 loop is awesome... 209 is a favorite... The southern end of the BRP is the good part... Lots of good stuff all over... If you know some "interesting" gems, we're all for that!

I hope you'll be able to join in... The more the merrier...

Perhaps...

I might come over from Tryon if I'm still on the Sprint. If it sells, maybe on a Scrambler.

We are about 10 days out from this event. Many are arriving early to mid week. You are on your own as far as lodging at this time, but Tom (SCbonneville) is still good to contact, he will know of any last minute cancellations at the Tangle Wood. He will also know about any room/cabin sharing open.

We have about 40 bonnie riders signed on for the week/weekend and many more trying to show up on the Sat only. Again for those showing up on Sat, this is a riding group and its very likely no one will be sitting around the hotels. No group rides are planned (except for a meeting spot to eat out Sat for those interested), those signed on through Tom have been emailed lots of ride routes to follow. So get someone's phone number, or ride in with a group. Check the NTB forum for the latest on the planned Sat group dinner ride, or where others may be riding too.
