Can I Suggest a Ride Loop??
Long ride but FANTASTIC or maybe split it into two days?

The 76 to PALOMAR up and over PALOMAR then near Lk. Henshaw make a right on MESA GRANDE by the "The Hideout". Up and over MESA GRANDE Rd. to the 79.
79 down MONTEZUMA GRADE to BORREGO SPRINGS for Lunch.
South out of Borrego to BANNER GRADE up the backside near JULIAN but NOT through it.
Make a left just before Julian on the 79 and take that to SUNRISE HIGHWAY through Mnt. LAGUNA almost down to Hiway 8 then back UP the 79 past Lk. CUYAMUCA through JULIAN back to the 76 and home.
These roads have it ALL...twisties, long straights, tight stuff, Sweepers! You name it!

Great ride if you leave EARLY!!

Can I make one more suggestion?
I'd see if you could get this event it's own "forum" to list threads like an "Attendence Thread" so we can see who's coming (list of everyones name) and a "Lodging Thread" with different motels/Hotels ect....

Ok guys...after seeing your posts and noticing that a wildfire seems to be taking shape, I'm in IF you guys are. I will only agree to be involved if we have 4 or more people willing to be a RAT raid committee to discuss and review possible agenda items for the weekend. I want it to be a big raid and involve all the Southern California rat packs at the very least. I suggest we actually contact all western 1/2 groups with an invite.

In any case, if you want this to go further, and you should because it could be pretty cool, I would say show some interest in being involved logistically to take charge fromk initial ideas through a managerial effort in this. This is all volunteer work but depending on what budget is needed, Doug Douglas Motorcycles will make it happen.

Another thing, members from "thespeedtriple" began this idea and they deserve some credit for that but I will say that to be the type event we want it to be we need to very early decide that this is a Triumph motorcycle owners event. I'm sure the speed triple guys are open to that because I know from personal experience that they are die hard motorcycle, Triumph and Speed Triple fans, in that order. All that understanding means is that the committee will be charged with a plan that makes good sense to all groups and not just sportbike guys.

Lastly, of course you can imagine that I will be asking what benefit there is for Doug Douglas Motorcycles. I am not expecting anything grandious however. I think instead I have hopes that with Triumph themselves not putting on a westcoast raid that instead we can do an event annually. I'm pretty sure I can get support from other Triumph dealers as well to make a regional event. While that's all true, I can't see this makes sense if the events and people are spread out too far or largely take place in an area that geographically has nothing to do with our store location. Members of thespeedtriple have suggested (and I understand why to some degree) holding events in Temecula. I think that might be a good location but does not give our store a reason to be involved. So, asking the question early of who, what, where and why is vital to the success. Like I said, I like a regional approach and can involve other dealers but the further away and the more removed from the store, the less interest I will have in supporting it. So, it will be up to the committee to figure out these logistics...assuming some people step up to be committee members.

Ok, one more thing. The committee should involve key groups and does not have to be made up of Douglas Motorcycles customers. Maybe other RAT group leaders and members of thespeedtriple. I would limit the total committee to 8 people and plan on other members being added ad-hoc as needs arise.

Please someone, (Dan?) post this to the online web community and get feedback. Hopefully it has support even if that comes in the form of positive criticism.

If we get it off the ground, I will form an executive committee with myself and other dealer principals to determine the legal and other obstacles.

This is a note from the DOUG DOUGLAS Triumph motorcycle forum......w appear to have a great shot at having a WEST COAST Rally if we pull together and iron outsome details..what say Ye?

I live in Yucaipa and work as a firefighter at the Old Town fire station Temecula. I would love to be apart of an event in this area. Keep us updated.

hey guys/gals.....we are printing up some shirt to commemorate the Rally. it will have some logos on the front regarding the 2008 SoCal Rally. the rear of the shirt will have some dealer logos on it. they will be a black t-shirt with a paypal option to me. i have to collect the money, as much of it as i can so i can hand it off to the local dealer that is getting them made. the cost will be in the 20-22 buck range i am told. so if ya want one, give me a pm with the size ya want and the quantity. thanks everyone.
