mr taylor,
i took your advice and posted references to this on other forums. we'll see if momentum grows.
as for trusting my instincts and doing what they tell me, if you've read other posts of mine, you'd know my instincts are now to back off and hide. i'm hoping someone steps up and really makes this happen.
a gathering of triumphs is so cool to see. we are, after all, a different breed.
hey tonup, you'd better be there! and for this run, leave the wee-strom home. (smile)

I'm thinking that some of us TRI-State Rats might venture up past the CT/NY/MA lines and continue on to VT. Hell Route 7 starts in Norwalk, CT which is 2 towns North of Stamford! It's approximately 150 miles from there to Bennington - no big deal for us RAT's.

mr smith, this one is all you (with assistance from us of coarse). we shall all report to you for the event and planning. we'd hate to cheat yu out of the full experience of civic duty!
rnd...no veal here, BUT...i have no illusions about not perpetuating the veal industry as we use gallons an gallons of dairy products. one knows that there is no dairy without a lactating cow. there is no lactating cow without a calf. 50% or so of the calves are bull calves and have very little use in the dairy farm industry as almost all farms artificially insemianate. therefore...all those cute little bull calves are parmesaned, and piccattaed, and cutleted.

The RAT packs are affiliated with Triumph, but they operate independently. Mine especially -- we have virtually no contact with Triumph corporate, and we don't even have much interaction with our sponsoring dealership.
But that said, we do have the resources to communicate with other RAT packs, and there's a good chance I could talk our sponsoring dealer, the only Triumph dealer in Vermont, into supporting a multi-pack gathering. We've talked about doing this sort of thing for a couple years now (basically, since Triumph eliminated the New England RAT Raid), but things just haven't come together. If we have a few folks helping out with making arrangements, there's no reason we couldn't make it happen.
And no, we don't need to ask for anyone's permission. We can get the plans rolling, I can talk to our dealer and see if he's interested in participating, and if he is, great, and if not, that's fine too. I can also send a message to the RAT coordinator letting her know what we're planning and inviting Triumph to do something in support, but ultimately whether or not they choose to support us makes no difference.

markbvt,
my initial thoughts were to get as many members as possible to ride to bennington and meet face to face. ride in from all directions with a typical triumph free spirit, each having taken care of their own lodging needs. probably too naive to think it would be able to work with minimum organization. if it needs heavy organization, i'm not your guy. i'd need help as the devil is in the details.
the stowe vermont rat raid in 2005 was great. sort'of the model i had in mind when i posted here. here are my thoughts and any and all improvements on them are sincerely welcomed. your offer to get others involved is great!
i had an image of triumph riders arriving in bennington and gathering on a friday in the central parking lot just a block up from the junction of route 9 and 7. but there might be a much better place to meet if the numbers grow. if this looks as if it were to really happen, the closer it gets - we could solicite local info from bonniegirl concerning places to stay and places to gather for food and chat. (i think a show of support in her cafe would be a nice jesture.) it would all depend on what the turnout might be.
then saturday for rides and then back to bennington for war stories. not sure of a local watering hole that would work. sunday, the diaspora of triumph riders.

just one point
I hate to bring this up because I love the idea but, we are going to have a big party at bonniegirls place and make her work her butt off to take care of us. She may not object. I don't know. What do you think Robin. Have you thought about if you would be able to enjoy the festivities or would you just be running crazy?

I hope the timing is right so Sue and I can ride over. Its been two years since we had any of that great coffee she serves up. I remember when Robin first came on the scene here and she has been a class act ever since. We enjoyed meeting her one or two summers ago when we were base-camping in Lake George and rode over just to say "Hi."
FYI: Since cross posting is discouraged I closed the notices in the Twins Forums, but left the link back to here. That way we keep all the replies in one place and you all can get a better feel for who is coming, etc. Hope that works out well for everybody because the gathering is a GREAT idea.

Excellent! You guys can bring your golf clubs. I'll bring my kite.
Lovel, this time I'll hit my brakes!
