i think memorial day weekend was the weekend before this date. as for mud, i didn't think we'd be dirt-biking it. plenty of beautifully paved roads in vermont. (dirt too, but we can avoid them.)
as stated many times, the difficulty in life is choice. personally, i'm up for any date. i'd just like it to happen.
how do we set up a poll and have votes?

the majority of peeps that have inputed are for the 31 may, 1 june. we should stick with that. it's not the holiday, americade, or laconia, or duanesburg rally (those are the next 3 weekends).
seriously, if we poll, there will be reasons for every weekend to not work for someone. there is eough lead time for this 31 may, 01 june for peeps to adjust and plan if they'd like to join us.
and it's right between marks and my birthday

Done.
I need a hotel recommendation: convenient walk to watering holes, nice ice machine for Grouse, not a B&B, room to park my car and trailer'd bike (if I decide to go that route.)
Thanks.

I'm with Robin, let's settle on this weekend. We would ride in on Friday, May 30, and head out on Sunday, June 1. Knowing that, we can begin to work out what to do the evenings of Friday and Saturday, and people can begin to book lodging and let their bosses/families know they'll need to take time off.
And this particular weekend has a lot going for it -- it's the weekend after Memorial Day, which means people riding in from far away will have to take one less day off work (depending on their jobs), and it's the weekend before Americade begins, which means anyone wanting to attend that can go right there from our little rally.
It also has a few other benefits -- the weather is usually quite nice at that time of year (not too hot, not too cold), the bugs aren't as bad as they will be later in the summer, and everything still has that late-spring feel to it, which often makes for really beautiful scenery.
Now, let me get your collective opinion on something: do we want to approach the Vermont Triumph dealer and perhaps Triumph corporate for support? If so, I would let them know that the event is already being planned as a free-form, grassroots sort of get-together, and we have no interest in a formally structured event. But perhaps they'd still like to participate in some way. What do you all think?

I think if the powers and planners to be set the date its far enough out that we can adjust as stated. I for one would love to ride up and take a ride around your neck of the woods just set a date in stone and we will be there call it a birthday present for me also 6/4. If you need any help from the mid atlantic area just ask.

all these people keep having birthdays we are going to have to buy an awful lot of beer presents. I really hate that.

Based on comments so far, my read is as follows. Sounds like early to mid May is out due to weather and/or road/pest conditions. As far as road conditions are concerned, personally, I'm sticking to hard surfaced roads with my sport bike tires/ground clearance setup. End of May/first weekend of June will work for bonniegirl and not conflict with her other commitments or holidays, other events or tourist/traffic issues. Plus it's close to her birthday. Sounds like the rest of June is pretty much out due to the above conflicts. I would think anything around July 4th would be a zoo for similar reasons and I would assume many of us would have other commitments anyway. July 25th-27th is Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Complex. I'm going to that for sure because this years marque being honored is Triumph motorcycles. I know a number of others from this website are also planning on going to VMD, based on another thread in this forum. So July is somewhat crowded for those individuals. That leaves August.
Whatever date is untimately selected I am going to make it to this event in Vermont, unless the dates conflict with Memorial Day, July 4th or VMD at Mid-Ohio.
My personal opinion is that Mr. Smith's idea of taking a pole is a good one. I would suggest that it be open for a given period of time and then voting close as of a given cut-off date and that majority rules, with the stipulation that bonniegirl has the final deciding vote since it is her we will be potentially imposing ourselves on in her town of residence.
Don't mean to sound bossy or controlling. It's just like the old saying that "If you want to be sure and get nothing done, leave it up to a commitee".

This is exactly why Robin and I are suggesting that we simply go with the 5/31-6/1 weekend.
