For many years in Phila I attended a "Turkey Ride" the Sunday after Thanksgiving. This was organized (for 21 years) by Snuffy Smith, an infamous rider of British bikes and a very nice guy. Snuffy passed on a few months ago, and I moved to Pittsburgh (unrelated).
I would like to continue the tradition of gathering with like-minded riders of Brit and European bikes (and the occasional Japanese, or even American model) on a day when the weather is often not very pleasant. A typical Snuffy Turkey Day poster, always hand-drawn, would say "Pray for rain - the sissies will stay home." There was the slow race, always well attended, a bon fire to warm your hands and butt, and some primitive food arrangements. Over the years the Turkey Ride grew in numbers, and eventually moved to a more private setting near Allentown (someone's back yard, still room for 100 riders!)
I don't have a venue in mind yet but I'm sure we can find a place where a few dozen enthusiasts could meet for lunch, some tire kicking and telling lies. Perhaps one of the local dealers would step up and offer his parking lot and rest rooms?
