This sounds like a great trip, would love to particpate, but shipping a bike over just for a 2 week ride not an option. How are rental agencies in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Austria or elswhere?

Slightly OT, Greek mapping?
Hi folks.

I know this is slightly off topic, but with a few of you being in Greece, I thought I'd ask, have any of you got recommendations for electronic mapping for Greece.

I bought Autoroute 2007, which claimed to cover Greece, and it really seems to only do Athens, and the main roads. None of the smaller country roads.

Destinator covers Greece quite well, however it only runs on a PDA...

If you want something equivalent to AutoRoute, the best coverage is provided in TopoNavigator by Anavasi...

Maps can be downloaded to a Garmin GPS (e.g. Vista HCx) and currently a routable map of Greece is in the beta stage...

The price however is an issue, at least for the occasional visitor/tourist...

Greek Bike Tour
I have PM'd NikosR for info, but am wondering who is coming thru France on the way down and what dates are set up. If I can get the dates to work, and you don't mind, I would like to hook up with whoever is going thru on the trip.

I noticed IrlMike was coming thru, anyone else? IrlMike, you still going?

IRLMIKE,

thanks for responding.

Never assume, but as this thread has gone quiet, I am guessing that there is a good chance that there are either enough people already signed up for this trip or it's no longer on.

Will you be heading down that way just the same?

Yes, I'm still thinking of heading south sometime! I'll pm you & give you my email if you want to chat about possibilities.

Cheers

Mike
