Here's how it went, I left CS a little earlier than planned and slabbed it up to Stuart. I knew I was a bit early so i rode around looking for stuff. Nothing particular, just seeing what kind of "stuff" was available off the main highway in Stuart(nothing really interesting actually). As I passed a Race Trac gas station I noticed a black bike that I couldn't identify(hmmmm) bust a Uie and pull in next to the guy, he looks over at me and we say "nice bike" in unison. Turns out to be a sportster with a custom "fly screen and short windshield" that this guy made up in his garage(it really changed the look of the front of the bike), he was blacking everything out (and if you've seen any pictures of my bike you know that I feel this is the best way to make your bike faster) He'd done a really good job of it, we BSed for about 20-30 min, blocked the use of one of their pumps and chatted at everyone that came over to look at the bikes (appreciative ohhs and ahhhs from everyone) When he took off I called CAPTDON (Don from here on out) and said "hey! I'm at the Race Trac." Several "Holy **** your early" later we arranged to meet up at his garage where he stored his bonnie and head out from there. Mind you I'd never met Don, nor been to Stuart. We met up at his garage, I wasn't even sure it was him as he went into his storage unit, until I heard the bike start up. Yup, that's him. Walked up said howdy, oogled his bike like any one seeing a "new" Bonnie would and then checked out his garage set up. There's three of them that rent a storage unit to park their bikes in and do any kind of work, it's got a little tv, fridge, a work bench and some beer mirrors, everything you really need. we took off, Don had to get some gas, after getting beat up by the gas pump he got everything in order and we took off. We ran up South Indian River Drive, as we were getting on to it we stopped at a turnabout waiting for traffic to clear we hear the grunt of another motorcycle, look back and "holy ****" it's another Bonnie Black, where the hell did he come from. I thought it might be one of Dons friends, turned out that Don thought it might be someone that came up me and caught up to us. We took of up S. Indian River Drive, with Mr Mysterious Bonnie Black in tow, cut across the Causeway and stopped at Archie Seabreeze. If you're in the area look it up, good gumbo and the burgers are worth killin' someone over, and very motorcycle friendly. Turned out that Mr Mysterious (refered to as Mike from here on out) was just out for a ride, couldn't believe that he'd just seen (not one but two) two bonnies go past one street over. A couple traffic violations he caught up to us, we all traded bonnie smiles gunned our engines and took off up the highway. We hung out at Archies for about 2-3 hrs I think, not sure had a good time swapping stories, then headed down the A1A along the beach back to Stuart. We stopped at Harpers Pub hydrated a little and went our seperate ways. Guys, I got rained on, on the way home. I stopped under an overpass for about 30 minutes and then said "to hell with it" and pushed on, never really got drenched, but was happy that it held off until the after noon. Overall a great time, and nice to meet some fellow bonnie riders. We all three had bonnie blacks Don on a 04 790cc, me and Mike on 07's. None looked like the other. Another great thing about this bike, you can make it yours!! And Mike better sign up. He's been lurking around, but I think Don's convinced him to register. Thanks for the invite and ride Don, glad you caught up to us Mike. Take it easy.
