Mike S. on the 8th Annual Western Maine European Motorcycle Meet

We got this from Mike Stackhouse the event organizer and founder.

read on
...................................

Pre-meet heads-up

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to give a heads-up on a few things before the meet,
which is July 27-29 at the Jordan Grand again.

Route 113 between Fryeburg and Gilead is closed until further
notice. They lost a bridge do to a flash flood last week and if you
were planning on coming to the meet that way, you'll have to reroute.

We are now two weeks out from the meet. Reservations are coming in
steady and I thank everyone that has dropped me a line or called.
REMEMBER, you need to make dinner reservations before the 20th.
Tickets will be available at the door but they will not be at the
pre-buy price. 1-888-649-9987 X 5022

Room reservation number is 1-800-207-2365 and tell them it's for the
Maine European Motorcycle Meet. The block of rooms set aside is
pretty much sold out and rooms other than that will be on a first
come first served basis. In other words, if you wait to long you may
be outta luck. Just a warning. But there are rooms.

Thanks to The Motorcycle Shop of Freeport, KING MEMPHIS will be
playing during the British and European Motorcycle show on Sunday.
This is a great rockabilly band and they're classic bike owners to
boot. It should be a great time.

I hope to see everyone up there. Ride safe.
Mike

I'll be there! Four of us will be arriving Friday night and staying on for the weekend. Look for the motley crew bearing NY plates and consisting of a Triumph Trophy, a TT600, a Rocket 3, and a Ducati ST2.

some of the many prizes given out at the MeMe Event

Hey gang I just got another follow-up not from Mike Stackhouse our formidible fearless leader over at Maine European Motorcycle Enthusiasts. Talking about the prizes and such....

Nice stuff Mike WTG! Thank you for your efforts in procuring the goods. And Thanks to our many sponosors! The gang will love it.

*******************

Well folks,
Whitehorse Gear stepped up with a bunch of stuff for prizes this year including a Nolan flip-up helmet. Monkey Butt Powder will also be given away so fear not in that department.
Cal-Moto the US Staintune distributor, stepped up with everything from hats and shirts to a SS coffee mug and a gift cert.
Firstgear donated a jacket of choice for the lucky person that get's their name pulled.
The Jolly Drayman offered up a coool sweatshirt from thier English Pub
Streets will be bringing stuff up as well
Seacoast Sportcycles says they're sending a bunch of $100 gift certs. (plus they're bringing up a Norge)
Spectro donated some oil too.
All in all there will be some great stuff given away this weekend.

As for a charity. What I'm doing this year is put out a jar for donations. All proceeds in the jar will go to the town of Bethel to help fund the clean-up of Angevine Park. This was the new swimming area that the town built a year ago that was destroyed by the catastrofic rain burst a couple weeks ago.

See everyone in a few days!
Yeehah!!!!
Mike

thank you note from Mike S. on the 8th MeMe Event

Got this from the event orgainzer. Great Job Mike! Lots-o-fun. Nice
to see everyone. Great to see some New Yawkers and some Vermawntah's
over here at the meet. It rained only little on some folks on the
Saturday ride but not at all on most. We had great, sunny, hot
weather on all days of the event. That's 8 years now with next to
perfect weather and the forcast was all doom and gloom. Have a lot to
add to this but won't bore you. Here's Mike..

**********************************

Hey everyone,
Thanks a million. We had a record turnout on Friday evening this
year with over 70 bikes in the parking lot to look over. (LOTS of
TRIUMPHs) Lots of new faces and lots of old faces. I think the
weather reports turned folks away especially on Sunday as the show
attendance was slim. Their loss as the weather was perfect! Thanks
to Bob Richardson for leading the vintage ride, which was on a new
(and well recieved) route due to 113 being out. BIG THANKS to
everyone that came up and offered help over the course of the
weekend. THE MEET WILL GO ON! I'll see if we can get together in
the near future to hash out the details.
I also want to thank everyone that donated the $5 entry fee and that
bought a shirt. Even though I have a ton of shirts left I made out
allright and plan to take $300-400 out of the kitty to give to the
town for the kids park that got wiped out by the rain a couple weeks
prior. (there was only $13 in the donation jar....)
I also need to thank some of the folks that made this all possible.
Without MOTO MILANO, STREET CYCLES, VT CYCLES, GREAT BAY
MOTORCYCLES, SEACOAST SPORTCYCLES, HELI MODIFIED, WHITEHORSE GEAR
and especially THE MOTORCYCLE SHOP, I would have had a nervious
breakdown worrying about weather and turnout being enough to pay for
everything. The generosity of everyone this year was overwhelming
and I thank all of them from the bottom of my heart. Tim at the
Motorcycle Shop stepped up big time this year and besides hiring
King Memphis for Sunday, he loaded me up with a ton of prizes to
give away. Seacoast Sportcycles sent up six $100 gift certificates
and brought up a new Norge (Nor Gay) to show. Street Cycle brought
up a ton of stuff to give away as well and big thanks to Ian and
Duane for having a table set up. Whitehorse Gear also stepped up
bigger than ever with a helmet, books and more. Big thanks to Dan
and Judy over there. I'd also like to thank Cal-Moto/Staintune for
their help.
If I was a little distant to anyone at the end of Sunday I'm sorry
as I was totally wiped.... I got a good 10 hours of sleep last
night and feel MUCH better this morning. Once again, thanks to all
of you because the PEOPLE make this event what it is and you are
truely THE BEST.
Mike
btw,
For those that booked out right after the prizes you missed a guy
riding in from Vt. with a Laverda 750 SFC!!! Had he been there
earlier he would have taken best Italian for sure
