Barber's Vintage Festival - October 9-11, 2009

The BVF #5 is this weekend. Vendor area is almost 100% sold out, w/only a very few spaces left. Should be a great swap meet.

Air show is scheduled for both Saturday & Sunday, weather permitting. Triumph is scheduled to bring their demo truck again, and, if they don't cancel, they should have the new T-Bird in the test ride fleet. (No rides if bad weather, but you'll still be able to look/see).

If you get a chance, check out the museum. See the new Triumph "Dirt Tracker" (it was in the atrium area yesterday), based on the Bonneville engine. Sweet! Not quite street legal, but.....

This year the trials and vintage MX will be on the new track, west of the road course. Lots of good viewing areas available, too.

The auction returns -- this year's auctioneer is Glen Bator. The auction will be Saturday afternoon, starting @ 2:00pm, in a huge tent set up west of the warehouse/south of the swap meet area. I checked out some of the bikes up for auction yesterday, there are definitely some sweet bikes up for auction, many w/o a reserve

If you can make it to Birmingham/Barber's Motorsports Park (Off exit 140, I-20), you should have a great time! More info available on the Barber Museum website, http://www.barbermuseum.org

AND I'M OUT OF TOWN THIS YEAR! D---!

Yeah, it looks like everyone bailed in my neck of the woods. May go down anyway....

Anyone looking for an Adventure 900 -- Check out the bike on the Bator Auction Page. The auction @ BVF (2:00pm start time on Saturday) has a 2000 Adventure (that's the one with the black tank w/red flame) listed. It's all the way to the bottom of the bike listing. Pictures aren't great, but apparently it has just over 5000 miles on it. It IS selling with a RESERVE.

There's also a Sprint ST 955 listed higher in the listing if someone is looking for a sportier bike than the Adventure.

Wish I was going to be in Birmingham this Saturday. There are several bikes I'd like to take a chance on.

This verb from the RATlantans....

"a bunch ... from the Ratlantans are going to be there. One of our members, Ron Raven, will have his RV set up on the top of the hill overlooking the back straight above the paddock as a hospitality base for the weekend. He'll have our Triumph Rat sign displayed and hosting lunch on Saturday. You should drop by."

As it looks now... I had to teach a class at work today and tonight I am installing a new set of brake shoes on "Black Betty." It is supposed to rain all day on Saturday and I think me and Mrs. Irishguy are going to simply pile up in bed all day long. So... I will probably be out at the event on Sunday and come by the Ratlanta area then. Besides... you get the best deals on stuff from the vendors on Sunday.
