NYC--->Catskills--->NYC // Sunday, 8/9

My friend is coming down from Syracuse (Rides a Triple) and wanted to do a little riding. We chose to meet up halfway in Margaretville, NY. 3 hours from each of us.

This leaves us at the foot of the catskills. We will ride around there for the afternoon. Then ride back to NYC together in the evening.

Heres the schedule:

8 am: Leave NYC
11 am: Margaretsville for Lunch
12-Boredom: Bomb the Catskills
Evening: Head back to NYC (Not too late since i have work on Monday)

2 Questions:

1. Anyone wanna come? I can leave earlier and do a morning session before my friend shows up.
2. What are good roads up there? My buddy mentioned CR 42 and CR 47

Divino,

I did below run 2 weeks ago on my VStrom from Queens entering Catskill Park with these directions beginning at Livingston Manor. It was beautiful. Make sure you gas up on Rt 28. There are no services on Rts 81-82-83; 47; 42. Those routes are very remote in parts (and you can't go fast!). From Queens to Livingston Manor to Queens as described below was about 360 miles round trip. Your trip will be longer........

At Margaretville, if you wish, continue on Rt 28 to Rt 30 West (passing Pepacton Reservoir)
Rt 206 South to Rt 17 East to Ex 96 Livingston Manor
Make left onto Rt81-82-83/Debruce Rd toward Debruce for 16 miles
Debruce Rd turns into Willowemoc Rd (following Willowemoc Creek) turns into Pole Rd
End of Pole Rd is steep downhill slope into Rt 47; make 125 degree left onto Rt 47
Take Rt47 20 miles to Rt 28
Make right onto Rt28 for 14 miles to Boiceville
Make right onto Rt 28A for 3 miles
Make right onto Rt42 for 17 miles
Rt 42 is Peekamoose Rd then Sundown Rd Rt153
At three way junction with a church make left onto Rt55A for 7 miles
Take Rt55A to Rt 55 South for 5 miles
Merge onto Rt 209 south for 15miles
Enter Rt17 East back to NYS Thruway

Don

On Saturday the 8th we're taking a ride up to Phoenicia in the Catskills for lunch. Should be a nice 300-mile day.
Have fun guys & ride safe.
