oops, where are my manners? Here's the gang with our name tags:
We left the Palisades gas station after Bob tried to pick up a guy on a Honda 919. Said guy was not interested :-)
We rode up the Palisades and some of 9W to the Gate Hill Rd exit. As luck would have it, the first sign we saw was FRESH OIL followed quickly by LOOSE GRAVEL! Luckily the signs were referring to the other lane, but there was some spillover that we needed to watch. This lasted only about a mile or so. Then we hit the fabulous Rt 106 (no pictures - we were too busy riding at this point). We also meandered down Tiorati Lake Rd which is maybe my favorite road in the area. After Harriman State Park, we headed up Perkins to the top of Bear Mountain. We saw a rather snobbish gentleman (too busy at the stop sign to wave? lol) on a beautiful, rare Bimota. The model name escapes me at the moment - but it was a looker.
Anyway, we posed for a shot which a kind gentleman from Wisconson was happy to take for us:
He was so kind, in fact, that he told us there was too much tree in that last shot. So we got him to take this shot:
We were getting hungry at this point, but we decided to hit up Rockwell Cycles first. As usual, Rockwell had a selection of drool worthy bikes - Ducs, Bimotas, Huskys and Triumphs. Nice selection of gear too - but $$$
We left Rockwell's and did the infamous Rt 218 Storm King Highway. It's one of the best roads - period. At the end of 218 there's a nice little cafe that we stopped at for lunch. I had my nicely seasoned Salmon sandwich. I think everyone enjoyed their food.
After lunch, Bob and Don hit the Palisades and rode home. Dan, Divino and I rode some Orange County roads for a couple of hours and then called it a day. Man did it get HOT during the day! With just the Thruxton, a Speed Triple and Speed Four we picked up the pace a little bit. I thought my Thrux was decently powered, but Dan's beautiful S3 (with that amazing sound!) made me feel like I was riding a bicycle when we dragged for a bit lol. Overall, great day - can't wait to do it again. divino - great job for a guy with only 2 months under his belt!
