Took five days over Memorial Day weekend and rode out to West Texas with a buddy of mine. We rode 1800 miles in five days. Friday, we went from Houston to Del Rio, then Saturday we headed to Big Bend, and stayed in Terlingua for two nights. Sunday we rode several routes through Big Bend Park. We took the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to Santa Elena Canyon, then took Maverick Road which is a dirt road about 15 miles long, back up to 118, then up to The Basin for lunch. After lunch we rode down to Rio Grand Village and over to Boquillas Canyon Overlook. Then we headed back to Terlingua and had dinner at the Starlight Theater Cafe. Early Monday we rode up through Alpine into Ft. Davis and then up to Balmorhea and back. After lunch we took the Scenic Loop which is the highest elevation highway in Texas. It's about a 75 mile run and has some great scenery and plenty of curves. We went to the Indian Lodge State Park for dinner at the lodge then went up to the scenic lookout point above the lodge. Tuesday we got up early and rode back to Houston. We originally were planning on taking two days to get back but we were making good time so we decided to keep going and came on in in one day. All in all we had a fantastic trip and can't wait till the next one.
Wow; great pictures. I've been meaning to get down to Big Bend for ages.
Triumphs escorting Goldwings down dirt roads must be the theme of the summer!

Thanks for the compliments, guys. My buddy who went with me had never been to west Texas before, despite having lived in Houston for 33 years. He's now in love with the scenery out there and is planning on buying some property in the area.
Here are the two pictures that I inadvertently deleted by rearranging my photobucket album, plus a couple extra.
