The seasons almost here

with that in mind, this will be my second season.

what do i need to do logistically in matters of the law:

another inspection?
registration renewal? (lost the regi document along with my wallet last year towards the end of the season...)

I remember someone saying that unlike cars you need to do something yearly.. can;t remember what it was

You have to do everything yearly in NY if I remember correctly.

As a side note, you might want to get a real bike this year - say a Triumph Thruxton or something like that . . :-)

Registration expires for eeeeveryone on April 30th. That's what you need to get done by or before then - legally. For cars in NY, reg is 2 years and relative to when you registered the vehicle in the first place.

Motorcycles are different in that it's every year and the expiration is the same for everyone.

That reminds me I need to check my inspection.

I'm guessing you have a vanity plate - like I do. Otherwise, it should be $40something.

the season is almost here indeed!

I knew it was coming and I was dreading the day but yesterday it finally happened... Yesterday was officially the first day of 2010 I was pissed I didn't have my thruxton to ride. Up until yesterday it was either too cold to be fully enjoyable + loads of snow/ice on the ground so I wasn't feeling too upset that my bike is still being garaged an hour away until i move apartments and secure off-street parking. But Spring has sprung and the weather here is supposed to be awesome this week. Time to finish up a few minor last minute winter mods and let the emerging from hibernation commence!

also re: registration... i got hit with MAJOR sticker shock this past weekend. Had to get registration and plates because my bike is new (to me). Price for 2 year registration in DC... $422!!!!!!!!! Woman at the DMV said "four twenty-two." Stunned I said, "Four DOLLARS right?!?" and she said, "nope... four HUNDRED. Don't worry, you'll have 2 years to recover..." FML.

For the past few years my bike NYS reg. was around $14.00... the inspection was ...? $6- $8 bucks....
If it's much more then that then the increase is to pay for the obstacle course of NY roads with all the sink holes and potholes that are out there....
