Ride for the first warm weekend in March...

I got this via email from a local Jersey RAT group. Anyone up for a ride out to Hershey to see this on one of the last two weekends in March? (The exhibit ends March 31). Looks like a great group of bikes, and the rest of the museum seems to have some pretty good stuff (although it's cars, which is only of passing interest to me).

"Fast from the Past: Competition Motorcycles of Yesteryear"

Quote:
From their inception during the last decade of the 19th century, motorcycles have been associated with speed and excitement, and from then until now literally hundreds of manufacturers have capitalized on that image by investing in racing motorcycles and teams. Many of these well-known and lesser-known marques will be featured in the upcoming “Fast from the Past” exhibit scheduled to open in late May 2009, at the AACA Museum. More than forty motorcycles owned and restored by members of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America will be placed on display; their styles and vintage will cover every era and every aspect of the motorcycle sport, from the fearsome board trackers of the teens to road racers of the 1970’s capable of speeds approaching 200 mph. If speed is your need, you’ll want to see “Fast from the Past” at the AACA Museum.
Reply if you're interested in doing a group ride, indicate your weekend preference (March 20-21 or 27-28) and I'll pull a route together and call the museum to make sure there's secure parking etc., along with scouting out some lunch locations.

Is there a nice route there? Or is the only option I-78 for 2 hours?

I'll set up a meeting place along 78 about a half hour in from the city so you can bypass all the swamps and urban areas, and then pull together a backroads route to Hershey from there. There are plenty of nice routes from Jersey into PA- I've got a few in my map/gps software, and perhaps some of our Eastern PA comrades will chime in with their favorites.

I'll post the route well in advance of the ride for comment and suggestions. I'll also pre-ride it to make sure it doesn't suck.

Sounds good Marc

The last weekend in March would be better for me but don't mind that if anyone else has a preference because I'm not 100% sure I can go

Might be able to make it as well. Sounds fun. Let me know if anything comes together.

I've been planning a route and I have a good candidate... I'll post up the map in the necxt coupla days. I may pre-ride part of it this Sunday, weather permitting, shooting for the following weekend for the "real" ride.
