Angry vandalized

So my baby got vandalized tonight...

I took my baby (08 ST3) to a friend's birthday party at a bar in East Village here in NYC. I didn't park right in front of the bars because I figured that it would draw a lot of attention and there could possibly be smokers who would flick their buds at my baby. So I parked a block down from the bar in front of a well lit apartment building.

After the party was over, I walked over to my baby, and found my left rear view mirror (I have the Triumph after market bar-end mirros) off and put right on top of my handle bar right by the key hole. Someone had snapped the mirror right off the handle bar (it was cracked). The turn signals on the left side (both the front and rear) were broken as well. I'm still in disbelief that someone would do such a thing, and I'm too heartbroken to take any pics...

I'm really not sure where else I could've parked to better avoid vandalism. Any suggestions?

Have you guys had experience like this?

Are the front and rear lights interchangeable? I'm thinking about moving the good right front light to replace the vandalized left rear one so that the 2 rear lights would match, and then get a pair of aftermarket front turn signals...

ps, if anyone has spare parts I could buy, or know where I can get good prices, please let me know.

are you sure it was vandalized and not knocked over on its left side?

Yea, at first I thought maybe it got accidentally tipped over and maybe someone was actually kind enough to pick it up for me and left the broken left mirror on my handle bar. But the weird thing is there's not a scratch on the frame slider and the only damage to the turn signals is that the lens caps and some of the silver lining inside the lights got broken off (the black housings are completely unscratched; if it was a tip over, I think the caps wouldn't have been broken off and the tips of the housing would've been scratched)...

I've also just examined the broken mirror more closely this morning. It's pretty clear someone had striked really hard on the mirror part and left some deep gashes (I think a tip over would've left more widely spread shallow rashes). Also, the way the bar end mirrors are configured, I don't think they would break in case of a tip over.

wow, terribly sorry about this. I wish there was some kind of easy answer on how to prevent something like that in the future, but the truth is that sometimes sh!t happens. Don't worry too much about it.

yea, it's just still hard for me to believe that someone would do such a thing... makes no sense!

I just called the Triumph dealer in NYC, the OEM turn signals are $54 EACH! holy crap

crap situation man.

Honestly, i just park in front of the bar if i do things like that.. theres a lot more foot traffic and i can easily take a glance at it once in a while.

Karma is a b!tch. They'll get theirs. In the mean time get some nice aftermarket turn sigs on the cheap from ebay or somewhere. I guess you can look on the bright side. At least they stopped there. You coulda walked back to either a smashed bike or no bike at all.

Yea seriously. I've gotten one of my bikes stolen in the city and trust me its not a good feeling. Its ridiculous how people act sometimes. Like what pleasure are you getting out of vandalizing someone else property?

I try hard not to ride in the city and if I do, I make sure my bike is in my sight at ALL times.
