Oil Question (I'm sorry)

I'm not trying to start a debate about brands -- I just want to know what the rest of you Angelenos are packing in terms of viscosity.

My manual say 10w40 for temps up to 104, which sounds like most days here, and 10w50 for anything above that. So do you run the 50 for the few days you might be riding through the dessert, or sitting on the 405, or do you run the 40 for some other reason?

Thanks...

I run the normal 10-40 year-round. Majority of my riding is commuting on 405 between the 110 & 55 so there are only a couple of spots where it gets over 100. I'd worry more if I was spending more time inland, and riding more for fun w/ higher RPM's and greater throttle opening.

I run the 10-50 year round. To be honest I use it in my other bikes and didn't really think about changing for the T120. I need to read my manual. Being an old guy that doesn't trust all this new fangled information I also changed it at 3500, plan to do it again at 7000 and take it to the dealer at 10K for the "scheduled" service.

I change the oil in my 98 Sprint every 3K and my VFR every 4K splitting the intervals in the manual. I just don't feel comfortable going 5K on the Bonneville so decided to cut it in thirds. I know the oil is supposed to be fine for the duration but as the mileage piles on the oil starts to look worse and worse at every change.
