Anyone else planning on going to Phils BBQ for Thursday night bike night? It's on the corner of Washington and Heights Blvd if you're interested. People start showing up around 7 or 8...some Triumphs, a couple of BMW's and a few Guzzi's usually show up.

Interesting. From the location and the bikes it sounds like it may be the remnants of the old Mings crowd, of which I was a regular for about ten years. Might have to check this out.
I had planned to show up this last Thursday; but I was working (in the cool of the evening) toward getting the triple clamps and forks back together on my Thruxton, and when I finally looked at the clock it was too late to make it. Time flies when you're having fun! :brick I've just found out that the new front brake line in my kit is the same length as stock, and I need one several inches longer; so now I've got to go through the hassles of swapping it out with the vendor. :Not again On the bright side I'm waiting on some bar-end mirrors and new aluminum bodied turn signals that I scored on E-Bay. And, I got my powder-coated parts installed. I'm finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel. :HappyRoll I'll try to make next Thursday's night. I'll be rolling in on SOMETHING with two wheels; even if I have to kill some more skeeters! ..........James.
James,
Just so you'll know, Phil's BBQ closed down Wednesday. They ended up moving bike night to Shady's Tavern on 19th St west of N Durham. They're trying to decide where to hold it from now on. I think it will be at Shady's next week though. I'm planning on making it again next week.

It looks like I avoided hunting down a new location last Thursday. Did Phil's go out of business, or did they just blow off Bike Night? Maybe the girl (sitting at an outside table to smoke) that I almost asphyxiated while backing in complained to the management. The new location (Shady's) is closer to me anyway; it's all good. I'll keep an eye out on this thread for the particulars. Thanks, .......... James.
Phil's went out of business. I pulled into the parking lot about 7:15....no bikes in sight, only a couple cars in the lot. Took my helmet off and walked up to the door to find Jamie's flyer saying they'd moved bike night to Shady's. There was a guy inside the building who was bringing some boxes out to his car. I asked if they were open because I wanted to get something to eat before I headed over to Shady's but he said they were closed down for good. Must not have been doing enough business to pay the lease in that location.
Shady's isn't in the lead to be the permanent location. They're throwing around suggestions for someplace else. They seem to be leaning towards Cahill's at Washington and Shepherd, but I like Shady's myself. A little hole in the wall......my kinda place.
What's the status of Thurday bike night? Is it going to be at the Shady's or Cahill's locations? If anyone knows, please post up. .....................................James.
James,
It's going to be at Shady's again tomorrow......and until they come up with a new location. I'm planning on making it again tomorrow. Hope to see you there.
Kevin
Here's a re-post of a message from Facebook by Jim V about the Thursday night bike night.
As many of you know, Phil's has closed so we have been going to The Shady Tavern until we can come up with a new place which will suit most everyone (Food, Drink, Parking, Location). There are some great new places about to open very soon so please be patient for a couple of weeks and until then, feel free to come up to The Shady Tavern at 1206 W. 20th Street in The Heights. They have cold beer, a pool table, indoor and outside seating, plenty of parking, and Dennis (Owner) will be making some great steaks on the grille at a reasonable price for anyone who comes hungry. So come join us ! - Thanks, Jim V
I won't be able to make it tomorrow as my bike is down The 5.5 inch rim came in and it and the hub our out for powder coat. I'll be working on it this weekend and next week and then heading to New Ulm Friday morning.
Hello! Been a long time since I was on here, but I am interested in coming to the Thursday evening Bike night sometime. Are you still meeting at Shady's or has it moved again?
Yes, every Thursday. They're still deciding on the permanent location, but as for now, it's at The Shady Tavern on 20th between TC Jester and North Durham.
That's cool....we do this every Thursday night so you'll have plenty of opportunities in the future to attend. The location is much better than the Shady Tavern for sure.
