Not sure if I've come to the right forum but I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction if not. I'm going to New Zealand next January and want to hire a bike for about 25 days while I'm there. The quotes I have been given are way over the top. Can anyone give me a web site or any info about hiring. If you've been there who did you use. Any information will be appreciated. :???:

If you are going to the South Island try Thunderbikes.....John and Ian Fitzwater can hook you up. These are first class people who do tours (unescorted) and bike rentals. If you want to know more about them, ping me off post.
They are located in Nelson, a wonderful little town on the South Island.
The riding is fantastic!!!

If you rent a bike out of Auckland a must do ride is around the Coromandel Peninsula .It's about a 400 Km round trip from Auckland and is full of great riding country thru' the hills and following the coastline....awesome ride !

The Fitzwaters in Nelson are great folk. I think you can also find them @ www.gotournz.com.

Did a 2 week self guided tour thru them in '02. All the details were handled, great trip.
