Thumbs up 1500 miles - San Diego,Sequoias,Yosemite,MotoGP!

I left on a Monday afternoon with a buddy.....He was on his BMW 1200GS Adventurer, me on my 2005 Black Bonnie...What a sight..LOL. We left San Diego and drove to Big Bear and spent the night. Then rode from Big Bear to Lodgpole up in the Sequoias and spent the next night. The next day we rode from the Seqouias to Yosemite (I never thought I'd ever want the twisties to stop, but this day did it for me!) and spent the night in Yosemite Valley. The next day we rode SouthWest to the big destination, which was the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca in Monterey.....Spent 4 nights there in what I would say was the best all-around seat in the house up on Fox Hill (motorcycle only camping). We had a few beers on the big race day, so we decided it would be smart just to crash there again and leave early the next morning. We jumped on the 1 and had only planned to drive down to Big Sur or maybe San Luis Obispo, but we ended up going the distance (500+ miles) and making it home before dark.....The Bonnie handled the trip with ease and was a total blast to ride. I just had some soft over-the-seat saddle bags and my tent/sleeping bag/thermarest strapped to the seat. Needless to say, this will now be an annual trip. And to anyone who's thinking of riding their bike to Laguna Seca, I can tell you that I've never experienced a more rider-friendly environment anywhere.....Here's a few random pics of the trip......

Thumbs up

Outstanding! I haven't been to Laguna Seca since the 1970's... But I've ridden many of the roads you took! Good stuff indeed. Funny thing, but when the speeds are more or less legal, these twins will tag right along with anything, including 1200 cc BMW's! Yeah, I'd like more "oomph" from the Triumph, but I don't really "need" it to have a great ride.

Good photos and you brought back some good memories of roads traveled long ago, with good friends.

Regards, Guy

That sounds like a blast, and it doesn't even include the amazing show that Vale and Stoner put on. I would definitely like to do that someday, but I need to learn to crawl before I can walk. Thanks for the great info. on my upcoming ride to Vegas.

Too cool! I've got to retire and start tripping.

I'll see your Bonnie and Adventurer, and raise you a Daytona riding with two cruisers!

Great pictures, especially in Yosemite. Bet it was a great ride.
