Orange County CA to Las Vegas NV

I have an 08 Bonnie which I use to commute to and from work. I recently did my longest ride, which was 100 miles down to San Diego. I have spoken with new bonnie and scrambler owners who have done 2000 mile tours with them. Obviously these aren't by any means the ideal touring bike, but how does a solo 300 mile trip sound in 100+ degree weather? Is this for an experienced rider with a bike that has more power or is it doable?

Ask your self honestly if you and your skills are up to the task. If you honestly think you are, then go for it.

I'm in Los angeles. we do that all the time. No worries. It's completely doable. I'm on a Bonnie blk/ 46years old.
I work as a landscape contractor and I'm in the sun all day. I know heat.

(You could start very early in the morning to help beat the heat. Start at 4am. Sunrise is at 6am so you;ll be well on your way by sunrise.)

Just be smart about it and take the logical steps to prevent any problems.
start drinking water the night before and keep drink throughout the day.
drink lots of water, gatorade or the like. Wet down the riding jacket and pants an it will act as air conditioning for about 1/2 hour or so. It makes a big difference. Eat litely but more often. Avoid to much sugar, It'll make you feel better but not for long.
Be smart, take your time and if you start to feel the heat getting to you then find some shade and kick it for a bit while you slam some water.

My riding buddy and I are doing a 500+ miler this saturday. It's forcast to be 98* in Taft on saturday. I'll probably drink a 1.5G of water and a couple of quarts of Gatorade during the trip. Maybe more. I got a cargo net so I use a day pack.

Take it easy
Have fun.

I did a little trip this past week from San Diego to Big Bear, to the Sequoias, to Yosemite, to Monterey and back down the 1 to San Diego.....1500+ miles. No problems on my '05 Bonnie. See the thread I just posted about it here:

OC to LV is a very short trip...

The bonnie is so comfortable it's like sitting on a couch, you'll be fine.

Take the precautions listed above and you'll be in Vegas for brunch

My girlfriend and I plan to go to Vegas for 5 days in October and I'll be riding the Sprint, to prepare for the trip I do 300 mile day trips on my days off of work, they're cakewalk on the Sprint.
