I have read almost every thread in here and everyone complains about no stories. Well, I have one for you all. Its not too exciting, but I have to say that I was quite surprised that there was a ride as nice as this in FL. It was about 800 miles starting and ending in Key West. I left out on a Saturday morning up US 1 to the Miami area. The day was about as perfect as you can get; it wasn't too hot and it was sunny. There's a million bridges between Key West and the mainland so you always get a nice view the ocean every time you cross one. I had no idea the Atlantic could be so blue this close to shore. Usually it has a greenish color to it, but on this day it was BLUE like the caribbean. You can't go all that fast up the keys; 55 is the max, but you would miss a lot of good scenery if you went any faster. After I got out of the keys I took Krome Ave north. It basically runs up the west coast of florida throught the everglades. You can really open it up there. It almost reminds you of a national geographic because all you can see is palmettos, swamp grass, and mangroves. Definitely not a place to run out of gas or spill because you can't even get signal on you cell out there. We stopped in Fl City for the fill up and rest before heading up Krome. After tearing through Krome for a few hours we decided to stop off at this little place in the middle of the swamp. I have to admit it was the first time I really opened my girl up and I was very pleasantly surprised. All I have to say is "Daddy like!" On the keys you really don't et out of 3rd gear because the cops are nazi's over here. The motel was really nice for where we were. The rooms were clean, the food was good and they even washed our bikes. Old man Bedford is a real fan of Triumph and had some funny stories about the old bonnies in the 60's. He's the owner of the place. After that we headed up toward Naples and cruised around. The rich people warmed up to the bikes over there; ofcourse you get the Harley turds that don't give any other bike a break. We got crap from a guy who really displayed his knowledge of motorcycles by giving us a "Rebel Without a Cause" reference for Harleys. We had no choice but to exploit his ignorance and tell him he meant "Easy Rider" because Rebel was a Triumph. Other than the idiot who knows nothing about motorcycles Naples was great. We had lunch at Amadorro's which is some kick ass Italian food. Definitely a place to visit. We then took 575 over to 95 and started our trek back down to the keys. We ade the manadatory stop at South Beach(after scrubbing and polishing the bikes) so we could get our groove on. We drank Red Bull most of the night with an occasional beer and managed to score ourselves an invite to a party on Star Island. The is a prominent musician who happened to be in front of the club when we pulled up on our toys. He thought they were really nice and said they were were different than the "rolling couches" he's used to seeing. I don't know what is so different about a Legend and a TBS, but I am not complaining.
The after party was freakin' awesome and we were able to get our groove on as we set out to do earlier. I have to say by this time we were spent in more ways than one and we decided to head home. 95 south to the turnpike and down US1 to cruise over those bridges again with all the great views. It was an awesome weekend and a great ride. Hope you all enjoyed.
