Since everyone crapped out on retaking the Rockstore last Sunday (I know - it was just postponed) I rode out to Lancaster to see the masses of wildflowers blooming. It was such an enjoyable run (sorry no pics) I just wanted to let you know the route we took and recommend this - especially as a great "date" ride - if you can get someone to climb on the back of your bike and have lunch with you....
I headed north to Glendale - took the 2 - took the 210 - left on Angeles Crest Highway, Left on Angeles Forest Highway (smell the pines) Left on Sierra Highway Left on Palmdale Blvd (138) - turns into Elizabeth Lake Road, stopped at Harley's Rock Inn for lunch and something warm to drink then doubled back along Elizabeth Lake Road , Left on Munz Ranch Road, Left on Fairmont Neenach and there's the poppies etc. Raced back on the 14 to the 5 to get back in to LA. Don't shoot me if I got something wrong - look at a map and check it out for yourself - I do my best but remember I'm from NZ and it's hard to give directions when you're upside down.
The roads are fun and in good condition - this is the only time of year the wild flowers are out in such profusion and you'll see some great cherry blossom, llamas and buffalo too.
All in a days ride from Los Angeles! DO IT!!!!! :-D
