I have a ride report to post as soon as I repair my crashed PC that has all the pics on it.
Better the PC than the bike, 2nd. Trust me on this, as we've been mopping up from the husband's track day all weekend...
(He's okay. But, oh, what a mess.) Fortunately, it was raining and miserable this weekend, so there wouldn't have been much riding anyway.

Looking forward to the pictures and report when you can.

hey 2nd, where did you end up riding on saturday? i got about 100 miles in just riding around the GW parkway and around DC. i had plans for the later in the afternoon so my ride was cut short. got a short ride in yesterday during that late afternoon thunderstorm.

did you check out the DC rats group on yahoo? not sure where you are in VA but if you can make it to DC you should come out with us.
back roads through Loudoun to Fort valley rd., slab to Rt. 33 in to WV, cr21 to 678 to 39, somemore country rds to 59 to the BRP then slab home just under 400 miles.

No I have not heard about DC Rats. Most of the riding I do is guysa and gals from ADVRIDER.

I wish I could get my wife to ride more. I don't know if she doesn't like her bike (ZR7S) or doesn't like to ride with me. I try not ride above her ability but it is hard to go slow through a turn.

Then ride *behind* her. It not only limits you to her level without pushing her beyond her comfort to 'keep up' with what you think is moderate, it keeps the traffic off her tail while she's gaining confidence. That's what my husband did when I was learning to ride. (Well, that's what he did after my very first ride when he flew off into the distance and I skidded and laid it down on a nasty corner. By the time he came back, I had the bike righted and enough steam built up that I'm amazed he didn't just turn back around and floor it. Brave or foolish, you make the call. )
As far as the bike, that might be tricky. At the risk of sounding sexist (and I'm sure *someone* will assume I am) a lot of women riders I've met seem to feel terribly guilty if they dislike a bike chosen for them. Even if they hate it more than life itself, they won't admit it because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings. Or, if that's the only bike they've ridden, they might not even know. I didn't. I was riding an SV before my Legend and didn't really care for it. Too tall for me, too raked, it just felt unstable. If I hadn't gotten a different bike, I would probably be riding very little these days. And I would have just assumed I didn't like riding that much. But, lucky for me, Triumph used to have those wonderful ads that showcased their bikes and I fell in love with the Legend. And after an initial shock and disbelief on the part of my sportbike loving husband (who couldn't fathom what anyone saw in a standard), we started hunting around for one. So, maybe try taking her to wherever bikes congregate around there or bringing home some of the bikemags.

Anyway, my trip around the central coast this week got nixxed by a series of events and I'm depressed. (I'm even going to miss Ostrich Land.)
So where's this ride report to cheer me up?

Riding behind her is a good idea. When I learned it was a follow the leader deal. She picked her bike out for seveal reasons. Its light, not very powerful, she says its comfortable for her. She had problem with buffeting. From about 65 and up the wind was knocking her (and my) head around. Like Mike Tyson landing upper cuts. I have since installed a laminar lip which solved the problem.

I had a K75 that I hated. Just couldn't stand the thought of riding it. The one downfall of motorcycling. You can buy a bike that looks great, has great specs., great reviews and find out after 500 miles you hates it.

Yeah. It was a really big deal for me when I was learning, and I think it smoothed out the learning curve a bit as well. So now any time I ride with newbies, I let them lead. It gives 'em a lot of confidence, though I do have to say there have been some radiator-grill fodder moments when they ride slower than traffic.
Tony just smiles when I whine about it to him. I think he considers it payback.
