Early trip through orchard country

Washington's apple orchards are just starting to come out of their winter dormancy. The roads too are just coming into decent shape for riding, as the snow recedes and the sand is washed from the roads by spring rains. Took a little 100 mile jaunt from home this afternoon, along the Wenatchee River, through orchard country (turning into wine country) and up into the still very chilly Icicle River Gorge... It was nice!

The snow-fed Wenatchee River, a tributary to the Columbia. A great steelhead river!

Orchard country, a few miles outside of Wenatchee.

The Cascades seem to leap from the floor of the river valley outside of Leavenworth.

Well up into the Icicle River Gorge, at the end of the plowed road. Snowmobiles only beyond this point!

Regards, Guy

The Scrambler, set up for a day tour, just the CoreTech 14 liter bag & nothing else!

Anjou Bakery, right alongside the highway, in orchard country between Cashmere and Wenatchee. A must stop place... Great food & great coffee!

Fresh baked Rosemary bread - brought home for dinner!

Regards, Guy

And Scramblers too, no doubt!

Oh, that river. Where's my 8 weight fly rod?

Icicle River in warmer weather - decent dry fly fishing for trout.

Steelhead with that 8wt fly rod... Yes, released unharmed...

Nice area and bike & fish. Reminds me a bit of where I lived in N.Z. I don't want to feel cold like that anymore!

The pic of the steelhead almost convinces me fishing might be fun. Almost. The scenery, on the other hand, speaks of prime motorcycle riding territory.
