Dit is Afrikaans vir "Bat".

"a flying nocturnal mammal with membranous wings that extend between the fingers and limbs

Very impressive, you speak the language

Translation from SA English to other English:

dam wall = dam
dam = reservoir

Beautiful country!

Great photos! Thanks.

I'd like to visit South Africa someday. Is it possible to rent a bike for a week or so and go touring?

Regards, Guy

Absolutely. In fact you have far more options if you want to rent a dualsport in SA than you will find here in the US (dualsport is the way to go if you want to tour there - some areas are primarily dirt roads, albeit very good quality dirt roads).
I am sure the SA guys will be more than willing to help and guide. I have also done some wonderful riding there - PM me if you need help.

Talking Rhodie - B.S.A.P logo

Long time since you were in that (Lesotho) end of the world! Motorcycling around that whole area is awsome in and around the Maluti / Drakensburg mountains. Cannot help but notice that you are using the B.S.A.P. colours as your logo... Some connection? Your first motorcycle was not a BSA or Matcheles by any chance? I am ex force living in Johannesburg, have a Triumph Sprint and Rocket 111 also own tour company www.triumphtours.co.za lotsa pics if you care to look of tours around Kruger / Sabi, Lesotho surrounds and Jhb to Capetown. Wonderlust or somthing! If ex BSAP and Support Unit we are having get together after 28 years at Midmar in
Natal Midlands 14 - 16 Nov. vWant photos of that will oblige, let me know. Cheers.
