The answers are related. The strap is actually a flat bungie cord that holds my jury-rigged GPS mount in place.... see

For the map, I simply turned on the track-log function on my Garmin 2730, then uploaded that data to Google Earth Plus. I then rotate the map to a pleasing angle, and snap a screen-cap.
