Post-Work Mental Floss

Worked from home today. As soon as 5:00 hit, I shut down and fired up my 1050cc stress reliever.

My target profile- a quick banzai run across town and up into the East Hills...about a 50 mile RT.

Here we are, a sign showing we're in the right place. Unfortunately, this road is in poor shape and not condusive to carving.

It was a gorgeous day, if just a little windy.

There are some pretty areas around here, especially this time of year.

Ah. Much better.

Groucho,

Beautiful pictures. I miss the open hills of California. When I first moved to Washington State, my brother said that the mountains around her would be a lot more beautiful "it it weren't for those f*#ing trees." Cracked me up, but I know what he meant whenever I go back to California (or the open country of Eastern Washington).

Those bare mountains are awesome in Spring - even better when the wildflowers show. California has more doggone amazing motorcycle roads...

Thanks for posting! I spent a several years stationed in Southern California while in the Marines and rode as much as possible. Great place! Have to admit I didn't have a Triumph then. Not sure I even saw more than a few of 'em...

Regards, Guy

Hehe... glad you've posted, as my wife and I are considering eventually relocating to the Seattle area.... I don't know how many more 110 deg F+ summers I can take. It has taken my buying a motorcycle to make me appreciate this area, because other than the abundance of excellent motorcycling I pretty much hate it here.

How is the riding up there? I know it rains... a lot... but I would assume that during the summers the mountains are full of beautiful terrain...

Wonderful country. It must be a fun place to ride.

Had a rotten day at work today...drove home and fired up the triple.

Was a good ride. It's Springtime in the Hills!

It does rain lots, but there are plenty of in-between periods during the colder months. Good gear and gloves will keep you warm. Spring, Summer and Fall are all beautiful riding seasons. Plenty of highways and byways around the mountains and foothills. There's also the east side of the Cascades, which is a good place to go to dry out. Check out M700R's (the other "Guy") ride photos for a sense of the differences.

Here's a recent photo I took last month while testing my new Vario windscreen in the farmland of Skagit County:
