Two days before I was scheduled to leave for Nova Scotia the sprag clutch on my bike gave up the ghost. It left me unable to start the bike and ended my plans prematurely:

This August 5-22, 2017 I'm planning to complete the trip. It's an 18-day journey covering 3900 miles including rest days. I'll be riding backroads and not a single highway 'til the last day going home.

Figured it'd be fun to do as a group, car and bike enthusiasts alike. However I'm planning to go regardless if no one can. So giving everyone an 8-month notice so you can put it on the calendar.

If you can't complete the entire trip feel free to ride part of it. The first three days alone should be epic. After that we'll mostly be in Canadia.

If you haven't already got your free Canadian Park Pass for the 2017 season here is the link. I plan on taking a similar trip some time this summer so I may borrow the part of your itinerary starting in Vermont. I will be coming in from Central NY about 80 miles north of Albany. I do my rides as moto camping, slow and easy is my way of life anymore. I don't really plan trips anymore, I watch for a clear weather break and leave, I don't really plan a route or a duration of a trip. I get there however I get there and I get back home when I get there. Enjoy your ride. My guess is that I ride at a bit slower pace than you do, I'm 70 and on a Speedmaster.

Thanks for the tip! I actually ordered mine earlier this month :)

Going on a whim is exciting too. I personally like to plan out my adventures so I can wake up in the morning knowing exactly what I'm doing. So there are a couple of landmarks / roads I want to hit and have planned around them.

That speedmaster must be very comfortable for long distances

I have found the Speedmaster to be the perfect bike for me, especially for moto camping. I have been told I look like the 2 wheeled version of a gypsy wagon after I get her packed and ready for an adventure. Like you, my trips always have a set of way points, must sees and a destination. I just never have a set route, I always ending up taking some road along the way just to see where it goes. Enjoy your Speed, I dearly regret selling my 01 RS. When I had both bikes I felt like I had the best of both worlds. I am going to watch this thread, I just might try to meet you somewhere along the route for a cup of coffee.
