From 1982 thru 1997 i averaged 8 to 9 trips to Two Wheels Only campgrounds. i spent many days searching out great roads.
maybe in the fall i can take the S/E on a long weekend jaunt.

If you make it as far north as Omaha/Council Bluffs, drop in at Baxter Cycle and have a look around (60 miles east of Omaha). It's like a little motorcycle museum but everything is for sale.

I have enjoyed trips of random travel. Several years ago I was eating breakfast in Ft. Collins, CO. The waitress saw my helmet and maps and asked "Where are you going?" I responded the best that I could with "I think Steamboat for lunch."

Since you're heading this direction, you might want to try 29Dreams Motorcycle Campground, about 30 miles SE of Birmingham, and only 10 miles from Barbers' Motorsports Museum. Of course, you don't want to miss the Museum, just be sure to allow ample time to view all you can absorb. With about 750 motorcycles on display (out of over 1200 motorcycles in the collection, as of last Friday), and about 60 cars (out of about 100) on display, it's not uncommon for folks to spend more than a day in the Museum. $10/person entry. Hours are 10am - 6pm M-S, 1pm - 6pm on Sunday. (May open a bit earlier, but these are the posted hours).

Enjoy the trip. I'm envious!
